Bottle from Cotteridge Wines. Poured a dark mahogany with a frothy tan head. The aroma is roasted malt and coffee. The flavour is medium bitter, with liqourice and dark chocolate. The palate is a little watery. A decent beer but an average example of the class. tommann (4031) - Dudley, West Midlands, ENGLAND - JUL 7, 2013

Imagine a man who mashes Minaj in the minge in the manner of a ninja mammoth. RichTheVillan (8457) - Birmingham, West Midlands, ENGLAND - JUL 7, 2013
Bottle at Cotteridge Wines; black pour tiny white, the faintest of piney hop aroma, tastes like a hoppy porter sweet with roast malts and coffee and a small hint of tropical fruit.

Shared with lots of people at Cott. Thin, no hops to speak of, but enough lubrication to get the evening started. Bish and I totally messed up the pouring, doesn’t bode well for BBB. superspak (6228) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - JUN 16, 2013
22 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled 9/11 on the label(2011?). Super highly carbonated upon opening. Pours nearly pitch black color with a 2 finger foamy and fluffy tan head that lasts forever, eventually reduces to a large cap. Foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a ton of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, char, floral, pine, light citrus, and roasted earthiness. Pretty nice aromas with good balance of roasted malt and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, char, light smoke, floral, grass, orange zest, light pine, and roasted earthiness. Light roasted and floral bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, roasted malt, cocoa, char, floral, orange zest, light pine, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance of roasted flavors with a good amount of hop presence; with nice robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a slick, crisp, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is good once the carbonation dies down. Alcohol is very well hidden with no warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a good black IPA despite being old. Good balance of roasted malt and hop flavors; and smooth to drink after the excessive carbonation died down. A nicely enjoyable offering. hayduke (5731) - Eureka, California, USA - JUN 13, 2013
This 22 oz bottle was courtesy of Strykzone via a trade. Thanks Dave. Bottling date of 2/20/12. Pours jet black with a really robust tan head and great lacing rings. Nose is resinous hops and chocolate malts. Medium body. Smooth creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is roasted malts with pine and citrus hops. Dry finish with light bitterness. Very tasty and good for the style. OKplus (788) - Oklahoma, USA - MAY 23, 2013
A - Black body with 2 fingers of sudsy khaki head that forms a nice collar and holds a thin ceiling throughout. A few one inch patterns of lacing left behind.
S - Dark cocoa, roasted/charred malts, bold green pine needles, slight oxidation.
T - Sticky pine resin laced with dark cocoa, heavy roasted malt fills the top of the mouth. Faint sour fruit notes. Bitter pine holds strong dominating everything in its path. Hints of cardboard and metal. Dry cocoa powder comes back around on the finish leaving a dry roasted finish.
M - Medium to moderate carbonation, light to medium body.
The nose brings a nice roasty charred aroma with pine filling the background. The flavor has an extreme dry and piney roast character that leaves me wanting more. The flavors don’t seem to go anywhere and have a sour mineral flavor that gets in the way. With all that said it gives you nice hop fix and super dry finish, if that’s what you’re looking for.

Bottle from bhensonb. Pours black with a huge tan head and a treacle aroma. There is a flat smoky molasses flavor with a fairly nasty bitter finish. This is a three year old bottle that may have gone bad.
