UPDATED: MAR 6, 2012 Chilled after room temp shelved for some number of months.Slightly froze, heavy hiss when opening and a massive head.Black with a tan head great lacing.
Aroma was all a light somewhat metallicy at first with a thin airy citrus scent chocolate notes come as it warms, fresh light citrus with chocolate seems to stand out most with very light sweet grainy roast notes.
Taste has a nice smoothness with good hop presence with a lightness from the citrus but somewhat medium bodied but overall seems light with a nice roast towards the finish with a chocolate background citrus hops up front.Pretty nice black session ale really, very drinkable with a nice roasty chocolate and bittering. I could see this being in a can,and i would love to take it outdoors and have a few of these.Overall taste is really nice. Beerenberger (1605) - Fischer, Texas, USA - SEP 8, 2012
UPDATED: SEP 9, 2012 Citrus aroma. Opaque brown pour with a gigantic rocky tan head and minor lacing. Malt taste upfront with hints of dark choclate and coffee. There is a hopped citrus bitter finish. Medium-light body and high carbonation. Overall, this was enjoyable. Would drink again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone stefannilssons (1580) - SWEDEN - OCT 28, 2012
Det här kunde nog ha varit en riktigt bra öl om den inte hade varit för kolsyrad vilket fick ölen att upplevas som tunn och avslagen. Smaken bar kraftiga inslag av choklad, kaffe med en ton av apelsin.

UPDATED: SEP 28, 2011 12oz bottle.
Deep brown pour with lots of sticky tan head and lacing. Aromas of roasted malt and pine hops. Flavor is slightly sweet with a good amount of bitterness - good balance of hops and roasted malt. Pretty good Black IPA. Scrapersnbeer (1532) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - DEC 10, 2012
Aroma is sort of a hard, burnt starchy malt and tree sap laced black coffee. Pitch black with nice tan head, not unlike a good porter. Blunt bitter start and long malty finish, I would call it an English pale only with lots of toasted malt. Slick body, substantial without feeling heavy. Bottle from kegs and barrels. Pours black with a thin tan head. The aromas are chocolate, citrus. The mouthfeel is slightly roasty and dry with a medium body. Cheers! halfonit (1366) - Fall River, Massachusetts, USA - FEB 10, 2012
Pours black in color. Aroma is of malts, chocolate, coffee, and molasses. Flavor is the same. Nice body. Leaves a roasted malt finish. This is a black ale, not a black ipa.
