A - Black body with 2 fingers of sudsy khaki head that forms a nice collar and holds a thin ceiling throughout. A few one inch patterns of lacing left behind.
S - Dark cocoa, roasted/charred malts, bold green pine needles, slight oxidation.
T - Sticky pine resin laced with dark cocoa, heavy roasted malt fills the top of the mouth. Faint sour fruit notes. Bitter pine holds strong dominating everything in its path. Hints of cardboard and metal. Dry cocoa powder comes back around on the finish leaving a dry roasted finish.
M - Medium to moderate carbonation, light to medium body.
The nose brings a nice roasty charred aroma with pine filling the background. The flavor has an extreme dry and piney roast character that leaves me wanting more. The flavors don’t seem to go anywhere and have a sour mineral flavor that gets in the way. With all that said it gives you nice hop fix and super dry finish, if that’s what you’re looking for.

Bottle pours almost black with thin tan ring. Aroma malts with licorice, roast and cocoa. Taste mundane with caramel and roast. Finish bitter with roast and some hops - tough to call this an IPA. Palate thin . Just OK. AcctError123848 (778) - USA - JUN 15, 2012
Dark brown to black, fluffy tan head. Aroma: chocolate, light licorice, some leather in this year-old bottle, hop aroma is light (but again fairly old bottle). Flavor: chocolate, some pine and orange peel, an earthy character. Finishes with a dry baker's chocolate note.

Bottle @ Jensen. Dark brown, big tan head that settles nicely, okay lacing. Aroma, malty, roasted notes, hoppy, chocolate, caramel, .Taste, malty, hoppy, roasted notes, chocolate, coffee. Way too much carbonation, needs to be in the glass for a while. Roasted aftertaste. Dommod2011 (706) - Birmingham, West Midlands, ENGLAND - JUL 7, 2013
Shared with lots of people at Cott. Thin, no hops to speak of, but enough lubrication to get the evening started. Bish and I totally messed up the pouring, doesn’t bode well for BBB.

650mL bottle, pours black with a 2 finger tan head and a coffee aroma with a hint of hop resin on the nose. The roasted malts seem to dominate the flavour so ill let it warm up a little an come back. Picking up the ash and esspresso as well as a hop backround but as i said the dark malts dominate. osu97gp (678) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 5, 2012
Pours a black color with a smallish sized tan head. Aroma of roasted malts with some light citrus and grapefruit. Flavor of roasted malts, coffee, light citrus hops towards the finish. A bit light on hops for a Black IPA but still quite good. AGAquino (667) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 25, 2012

So i was just looking for a simple nice beer to enjoy tonight and this well out did my expectations. Bomber poured into a pint glass. deep black color with some brown edges in the light. Light tan one finger head. The aroma is a pine and brown sugar. I think of it as molasses spice cake with burnt edges. A lovely sweet smell. The taste is a little roasted malt with bitterness and some oily orange zest just kicking in at the end. Taste fades fast. Refreshing for such an aromatic and flavorful beer. very slight linger of bitter in the finish. Best clown shoes beer I have had. paultheguru (644) - Parker, Colorado, USA - SEP 12, 2011
Pours a thick opaque black. Khaki colored head. solid hop aromas and flavors, light pine, and citrus, yet faint. rich roasted malts. solid and smooth, very crisp.
