12oz bottle pours a nice looking mahogany with semi loose mocha head. The aroma offers up dark roasted coffee , dark roasted malts and chocolate as well as spicy and earthy hops in the background. The taste jumps at you all at once with a rolling and twisting mix of dark roasted coffee, spicy hops, resiny bitter pine hops, some chocolate and dark roasted to burnt malts. As the taste goes to midway and then toward the finish the highly roasted to brunt malts take over the flavor leaving timid levels of spicy and resiny hops and coffee behind mumbling to themselves in the corner. Nice stuff. cbkschubert (2901) - BFE, Arizona, USA - SEP 10, 2011
12 oz. bottle from Total Wine - Pours a dark brown colr with a huge ass three finger thick light tan head. Nice lacing. That head would just not settle. Aroma is pine hops and light chocolate. Flavor is pine and herbal hops, light roasted malt, and a touch of chocolate. The bitterness really lingers in this bad boy. Medium body. This is one of the more bitter black IPA’s I’ve had. Nice. blutt59 (6573) - Dallas, Texas, USA - SEP 23, 2011

A clear reddish brown ale with a thick lacing brown head. In aroma, a nice chocolate malt with grassy hops, capucino, very smooth. In mouth, a big whollop of bitter chocolate, floral hops, coffee grinds, lingering and challenging. Very nice. On tap at Meadhall, Sept. 11 2011. Bottle. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of rich roasted/charred malt, a hint of coffee grounds. Flavor is again dominated by the roasted/charred malt, some roasted nuts, and coffee grounds with just a hint of chocolate. There are some bitter hops in the finish, but this is not your typical black IPA. Also not as hoppy as the Hoppy Feet, but similar flavor notes. Great hoppy black ale!!

Pours dark brown with a decent tan head that fades with some time. Nose is immediate citrus, oranges, tropical fruits, pines, dark chocolate, and sharp dark roasted malts. Flavor is sharp roasted malts again, chocolate, coffee, sweet caramel malts, citrus complexities and fruits. Medium body and moderate carbonation with a dry satisfying finish. Flavor and bitterness lingers slightly. Very nice. AGAquino (667) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 25, 2012
