Dark brown beer, with a nice off-white head. Aromas of mild earthy hops. Taste is a bit one dimensional: dry, herbal hops through and through. Not much malt backing up the hops, maybe some hints of watered down black coffee here and there. Dry, hoppy finish. Not bad. BBB63 (6557) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - OCT 14, 2011
Bottle sent to me by Shawn O Meter, thanks! Served in Bells tulip.dyetube (1378) - Hurst, Texas, USA - OCT 19, 2011
Pours a deep brown nearly black with some purple highlights topped by a creamy tan head that left good lacework upon the glassware. The aroma has notes of grassy, resiny and acidic hops, char, roast, coffee, and chocolate malt character along with some metallic, medicinal and tea like vapours that does lessen the experience.
The taste is balanced mostly by roasted and sweet malts versus the resiny and herbal hops. Seems a but muddled and dumbed down however, does not POP. Then there is a strange ongoing mild acidity that does not fit, is that the orange peel? The finish is metallic, minerally and just weird. The mouth feel is medium-bodied, ashy and muddy. I must say I am disappointed in this beer for it never really does much to keep me interested and has some strange characteristics.
Bottle from kegs and barrels. Pours black with a thin tan head. The aromas are chocolate, citrus. The mouthfeel is slightly roasty and dry with a medium body. Cheers! jredmond (8517) - New York, New York, USA - OCT 20, 2011
UPDATED: OCT 21, 2011 Black ipa with nice hops. Shared with Brendan at rattle n hum. Pours deep black body no head, minor lacing. dfinney23 (3395) - Houston, Texas, USA - NOV 13, 2011
Pours black with a short-lived tan head. Smells like a forest fire. Big hop flavor up front fades a bit to burnt malt and a mildly bitter finish.

Bottle. Black in color with a medium tan head. The nose is grassy, a bit of pepper some roasted malts. The taste is of roasted flavors, some coffee. Hoppy dry finish. The palate is light/medium, the finish a bit watery. The carbonation active. Overall, an inoffensive black IPA. Nicely made, though boring. nick76 (4402) - Tampa, Florida, USA - JAN 1, 2012
The aroma is very hoppy and toasted with grassy and pine hops. There is both citrus and coffee here. The appearance is dark brown with a thin head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall an interesting beer but to astringent. Fratto (2845) - Arlington, Texas, USA - JAN 28, 2012
Bottle from pikapp327. Dark pour with a massive tan head that is just massive. Aroma is dry chocolate, coffee, and a little dirty. Taste is bitter chocolate, light coffee, and fairly roasted. I don’t feel any west coast hops at all. Not bad, though. jtclockwork (17100) - , New Jersey, USA - APR 25, 2012
Bottle shared with Yanick. Pours black with brown head. Nose/taste of mint chocolate chip, burnt black malt, pine wood and pine cones. Harshly dry pine cones cut at the back of the palate. Burnt dry chocolate malt follows. Medium body. The only offering from them I didn’t like too much so far.
