650ml Bottle at home, bought back from Chagrin Falls Ohio last year. Poured thick jet black with a beige head. Beautiful deep roasty chocolate malt coffee vanilla aroma, leading to similar taste notes, a strong dark thick and bursting with taste impy. Glorious. pushkinwow (3006) - Ottawa, CANADA - OCT 9, 2017
Bottle. Black pour with a light brown head that mostly settles. Some anise, coffee grinds, resin and lightly floral, bitter with a full body and moderate carbonation, dry, booze comes through on the finish. Once it opens up things smooth over and it's pretty good in a 4-5 ounce pour. Chalumeaux (2007) - Middleton, Massachusetts, USA - SEP 18, 2017
Poured from bottle dated 10/14/16 black oily pour with a nice mocha head. Aromas of roasted malt dark chocolate and some mild floral tones. Taste is chocolate malt coffee and a nice creamy mouth feel. This would go great in a bourbon barrel. WillRunForBeer (2832) - Massachusetts, USA - SEP 16, 2017
Bomber shared by Chalumeaux. Big thanks, TJ! Dated 10/14/16. Tasted side by side with 2015. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is dark chocolate, grass. Good mouthfeel with dark chocolate, hints of grass and pine. Pine bitterness in the finish. Definitely nicer than the 2015. AirForceHops (8421) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - SEP 16, 2017
650 ml bottle thanks to Chalumeaux for heading to the special release at Ipswich Brewery! Raven feather black color. Almost identical to the 2015 vintage. Huge hop profile with mellow amounts of pine that resembles a bold black IPA. Good amount of chocolate malts and nuances. Good full mouthfeel.

650ml bottle from BG Express in Bowling Green, OH - another one of those random Ohio gas station/liquor stores with a solid/nice selection - hit during the trip east. Shared with bananabi11. Roasted & burnt malts, chocolate, rum raisin, light molasses, caramel. The taste/blend better than the nose. Some phenols in the nose. Full bodied. Some alcohol. The finish is about in the middle of that bitter-sweet scale, with the burnt malts & chocolate competing with the sweet caramel & molasses. A bit of a white whale, very glad to have hit it. Wish they hadn't just sold their final White Tail Unidragon, as would have been a great side-by-side. 14.4 Tmoney99 (15409) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 2, 2017
Bottle. Poured a black color with an average frothy brown head that mostly diminished with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted chocolate malt, earthy dark and alcohol aroma. Medium to heavy toasted dark sweet flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet and small alcohol bite finish of moderate to long duration. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a complex standout beer. alexsdad06 (11736) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - JUN 2, 2017
22 oz bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have dark roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, spicy rye, dark fruit, a hint of smoked malt, molasses, earthy bitterness, not appreciably different from last years version except that it is a bit bigger and bolder. superspak (6658) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - FEB 28, 2017
22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 10/4/2016. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 2 finger dense and rocky tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, spicy rye, nuttiness, brown sugar, toffee, licorice, molasses, herbal, tobacco, raisin, light smoke/charcoal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready rye malt and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, spicy rye, nuttiness, brown sugar, toffee, licorice, molasses, herbal, tobacco, raisin, light smoke/charcoal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate roast/char/herbal bitterness and rye spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, spicy rye, nuttiness, brown sugar, toffee, licorice, molasses, herbal, tobacco, raisin, light smoke/char, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready rye malt and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with an awesome roasted bitter/sweet and rye spiciness balance; zero acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitter/spiciness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Alcohol is very well hidden; a mild lingering warmth, with zero booziness after the finish. Overall this is an incredible Russian imperial stout! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready rye malt and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV. Fairly similar to the 2015 with the rye malts; but much more rich/decadent with a fantastic mouthfeel; and much less hoppy, bitter, and drying. A really amazing offering all around. Bomber. Pours black with a creamy, sticky brown head. Substantial cling on the glass. Aromas of chocolate, toffee, licorice and raisin. Flavors are roasty toasty malts, dark chocolate, cream, vanilla, raisin, toffee, and toasted bread. Licorice in the finish. Creamy mouthfeel. Noticeable alcohol warmth. It’s like a slice of decadent chocolate cake. Delicious.
