4/25/15 black with tan, rimming head. Soy sauce, roast and chocolaye, like the Blaecorn. This, however tastes more boozy and chocolaty, with more coffee in the after. Nice. GenDV138 (7698) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - DEC 4, 2015
Not sure why or how my rating recently got deleted. Consumed on 8/1/2015 at the RateBeer DC Tasting. Thanks to my friend Daniel for the trade! Black with tan head. Aromas of roast, light chocolate. Tastes of chocolate, roasted coffee, some bitterness. Medium-light body with a dry finish. DavoleBomb (1867) - Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 3, 2015
Poured into a snifter.
3.5 A: Black color. Two fingers of frothy light brown head. Retention is about what you’d expect from a beer this big and a short ring of lacing is left.
3.75 S: Nice aroma on this. Big, hearty chocolate followed by coffee and molasses. Also a good bit of hoppiness. Not enough to piss me off, but still plenty (I’m not a fan of hoppy stouts these days). Layers of caramel, citrusy orange hoppiness with some floral and herbal notes.
3.0 T: Ehh, the taste doesn’t have much direction. It’s a mesh of chocolate, molasses, coffee, herbal and citrusy hops, caramel, and burnt dark fruits. Fortunately, there’s not a lot of bitterness. However, there isn’t a lot of sweetness either. It’s missing a big, bold flavor to carry the taste.
3.5 M: Lighter heavy body. Good moderate carbonation. Reasonably creamy and smooth enough.
3.0 D: It’s okay, but it doesn’t pack enough flavor. Also, hoppy stouts aren’t my favorite.

Tallahassee, Fl - Proof bottle share - thanks! Dark black pour, thick mocha colored head. Aroma is slightly acidic, some prunes, a hint of licorice. Flavor has some coffee, Fruity Pebbles cereal, a touch of chocolate, Not quite soy sauce but heading in that direction. Aurelius (5562) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - SEP 25, 2015
Inky. Rich, boozy roasted aroma, sweetish. Smooth in general but a little on the acidic side. Really tasty, but just slightly raw and green. Heavyish body. Thanks to someone at Proof.

From a 50 cl bottle shared at the RB DC tasting Aug 1, 2015. Pours a dark cola with an off white head. Roasty nose. Flavors of dark chocolate and chicory. Bitter roast finish. Travlr (26065) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - AUG 1, 2015
Bottle. Clear very dark brown color, bright tan head. Aroma of dark bitter cocoa powder. Taste is bittersweet chocolate and espresso. Decent. jsquire (4597) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - JUL 20, 2015
Dark beer with a short lived beige head. Nose of molasses, caramel coffee and and a very grassy hop. Strong grass and earthy hops notes with tons of coffee, chocolate, burnt grains and sticky molasses. The finish is long with spent coffee grounds. Nice big beer.
