COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pecans suck. Thats what I thought as a kid. Now I love them.So much so that I decided to create a beer in homage to the pecan as it find the perfect home: pecan pie. Our Pecan Pie Porter balances sweet and nutty porter flavors with the subtle addition of all natural and organic pecan concentrate and butter pecan extract. The result is mouth watering goodness.

Medium Body like a poter but the flavor is a little more complex than many in the style. Bits of chocolate and roasted malt. Some nuttiness and a sweetness that works itself in rather nicely. Little bit of red fruit faint and way in the back of the sip. The pecans with their way in nicely and this is not some artificially flavored syrupy drink like some of the other pie ish beers you can find.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big buttered pecans, caramel, honey, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, toffee, vanilla, milk chocolate, light cocoa/coffee, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of pecans and dark/roast/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big buttered pecans, caramel, honey, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, toffee, vanilla, milk chocolate, light cocoa/coffee, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal hop and roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pecans, caramel, honey, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, toffee, vanilla, milk chocolate, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of pecans and dark/roast/bready malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitter balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Minimal dryness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy, lightly slick/silky, and slightly chalky mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol. Overall this is an excellent dessert porter! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of pecans and dark/roast/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. Nice malty richness, but never overly sweet. A very enjoyable offering.

22oz bottle with a big "2013" showing on the label. I see this as being retired but it was just purchased two days ago. Im assuming Clown Shoes has released some that they had been aging thus the big year printed on the label. I was expecting much more pecan flavor but only notice it because I am looking for it, never would be able to pick it out in a blind tasting. Overall a bit too sweet and one dimensional for me. Its just OK.

Bottle from mane liquor. Brown/black pour with a tanned head. Nose has pecans, nuts and roasted coffee. Surprisingly the pecan comes through. Taste is more pecans backed by a dry biscuit malt bitterness. Hint of toffee sweetness to round it out. Quaffer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled. Black-brown pour with a fairly dense medium tan head. Fair lacing. Nose is roasty malt with a definite pecan note to it. Roasty malt up front, slight flavor of pecans. A little tang to the aftertaste. The finish is moderately bitter, slightly astringent. Medium mouthfeel with a medium-high level of carbonation. Fairly well balanced. Not as sweet as I feared it would be from the bottle description. If drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy from my iPad.

Dark brown with medium tan head. Aroma sugary sweet malt. Medium-light body. Creamy mouthfeel, no alcohol. Flavor is pretty sweet, brown sugar and corn syrup. Dont notice any particular pecan flavor. An ok fall beer but somewhat one-dimensional.

Had on tap at the Hay Merchant. A very good aroma from the tulip glass - notes of sweetness like molasses and pecans. A good flavor with a hint of dark chocolate and espresso notes. Pour dark with a dark brown head. One of my favorites. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
