Bomber poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of smoke, roasted malt, bitter chocolate and light bourbon. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of smoke, roasted malt, bitter choclate, light earthiness and light bourbon with a smooth lingering smokey finish. BigBeer45 (1557) - Michigan, USA - AUG 2, 2013
this Impy had a black-brown pour and made a one finger tan bubbled head that receded to a thin cover and thick ring,
the glass had nice spots and fingers of lacing, and the bottom of the bottle had a ring of dark sediment at the edge of the bottle,
it had aromas of roasted malt, chocolate, faint coffee and caramel, some bourbon alcohol and sweetness, molasses sweetness, and faint earth notes,
the flavors were roasted malt and roasted malt bitterness, coffee, some chocolate, molasses and caramel, a little bourbon flavor,
the finish had malt bitterness (somewhat astringent) and alcohol spike,
the mouth feel was pretty thick and it was a little creamy, some alcohol warmed on the palate,
it was a nice Imperial Stout with more bitterness (and astringency) than I prefer in a Impy drink, less bitterness would help me to enjoy it. ICEatALAMO (1352) - Troy, Michigan, USA - AUG 2, 2013
Bottle. The pour is a dark brown/copper color. The aroma is sweet sweet bourbon with a hint of smokiness. The taste has a lot of smoke in it that I was expecting, and less bourbon. An interesting mix of flavors. High marks on the palate because of it. Hopped_Silly (418) - California, USA - AUG 1, 2013
Bourbon and chocolate nose. Bourbon, vanilla palate, with a balanced touch of smoke and ash coming through on the finish. Balanced for 12.5%. Long, elegant finish, which lingers with dark fruit and bourbon.

Here is just one more reason to be a fan of Clown Shoes. From a bomber into a Belgian-pimp glass splashed like watered-down chocolate syrup into some cola. The smells was a little earthy and a little smokey with some nice oak and cherries all about. It tasted smokey as well, but with a nice half-and half like fuggin’ balance of sweetness with a smooth raisin/toffee finish. Good stuff right hrrrrrr. OmegaX (1375) - Florida, USA - JUL 25, 2013
Thanks for the share, Harold. Nose is big bourbon, smoke, chocolate, roast, and bbq. Flavors are pretty damn close. A good dose of smoked meats and bourbon. Great brew. oRos (1675) - sacramento, California, USA - JUL 20, 2013
Bottle from capitol beer.pours black with off white head. Aroma is roasted malts with some pine hops. Taste is lots of roast chocolate and a bitter hop finish. Arayaga2 (2218) - portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 20, 2013
Brown/black with a brown crema of head. Aroma is woody and earthy, with smoke like a basement after a fire. Taste is the same, and rich with smoked malt and very woody barrel notes. $10/22oz Ktwse (5305) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 20, 2013
Pours black with a finger of frothy light tan head. Aroma of chocolate malts, coffee, milk chocolate, light barrel and vanilla. Taste is initially vanilla and milk chocolate sweet before an intense barrel flavor kicks in. Finish is massive, lingering, boozy coffee bitter. Body is full and creamy with soft carbonation. Generally very very boozy, even for its ABV, and not entirely balanced.
