Thick beige head, very even over deep burgundy to brown, clear beer. Very perfumey nose, praliné chocolate, coloured but not-bitter malts; pastry, noisette, also wild mushrooms. Bitter/roasted with a sweet, perfumey underbuild. Again nutty, confiserie chocolates. Point of bitter chocolate retronasal. Warming up, the flavour also gets a stamp as from wild mushrooms ( trompettes de la mort). Overcarbonated, fizzy MF. Quite slick, rather well-bodied. Can’t get the oak. Got some very perfumey, nearly forced flavours instead.

One of the better Dubbels. Dark, rich in flavor, intense but well-balanced malt, roast, fruit. Very enjoyable.

F: big, bit tanned, good retention. C: dark brown, red hue against the light, hazy. A: caramel malt, bit fruity, cherries, chocolate, bit cocoa, liquorice, mellow pears. T: malty, caramel, cherries, pears, mellow fruity, bit cocoa, sweet red fruits, medium to full body, medium carbonation, good, enjoyed, 33cl bottle from Bierwinkel De Hopduvel in Gent.

25 EBU 80 EBC.

Bottle 33cl bought at Dranken Geers in Oostakker. Pours dark brown with a big brown head. Nose: star anise hints, nuts, dried fruit, hints of port. Taste: medium carbonation. Creamy milky texture. Vanilla, coffee, slightly sweet (dried fruits). Hints of bitterness.

Swaroga (2224) - Warszawa, POLAND - JUL 6, 2016
33cl bottle. Brown with big, light beige head. Aroma is cherry coke, some vanilla, raisins and dried plums, orange zest, chocolate and spices like pepper and clove. Aromas aren’t intensive though. Mouth feel is unfortunately watery but has a soft and puffy texture to it that makes it enjoyable to swallow. Delicate sweetness with notes of dried fruits and chocolate, then quite huge clove, earth and some other mineral dryness. Quite interesting mix there. Some more yeasty dough, metal and herbal bitterness. Short finish. Well ..on one side very easy to drink , almost thirst quencher with a booze and on the other side it lacks more flavor. But nothing major wrong with it.

33cl bottle at home (13 II 2016), shared with the Meetjeslandse Bierproevers. Reddish brown dubbel ale, quite hazy and with a Belgian yeast nose. The taste is medium sweet, with a large body and medium carbonation. The ending is warm, alcoholic. The mouthfeel is very "Belgian" style, with the malts and yeasts aromas on the surface.

Skinnyviking (9767) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - APR 28, 2016
Draught at ZBF 2016. High creamy lasting off-white head. Hazy brown body. Mild malt caramel fruity and relatively sweet aroma and flavor with little hops bitterness, low carbonation and a short finish.

Wixie (694) - BELGIUM - APR 26, 2016
Brown liquid, small head. Aroma of malt. Heavy body, no carbonation. Taste is bitter.

77ships (11482) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - APR 24, 2016
Sampled @ ZBF 2016. (Thank you for sharing RB people!) Dark brown amber (? Shouldn’t this be like black?), tanned head. Nose is thick sweetish licorice, herbal, some leaves. Taste is massive herbal licorice, tad powdery, oily, low malts, leaves. Oily thick herbal; Way too much licorice, this is basically just pure licorice, nothing bad with this one but I am not into licorice this much.
