Black\brown pour with tan head and lace. Chocolate, BB, dark caramel malt, and abv aroma. BB, coffee, abv, and chocolate flavor. Medium bodied with nice carbonation. MrChopin (4305) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - JUN 12, 2011
dark brown, wispy tan head, toasty oatmeal nose, light chocolate, light wood. Flavor is soft, milky, bit of chocolate and grain through finish, soft chocolate with light bourbon heat and sweetness. Thought the palate went well with profile, but otherwise forgettable. blipp (9691) - La Mesa, California, USA - JUN 11, 2011
Bottle at RBSG Grand Tasting. Pours near black with a beige head. Roasted malty aroma, with dark fruits and a hint of sweet bourbon. The flavor has roasted malts, bourbon, and dark fruits. Awesome. GT (10017) - San Diego, California, USA - JUN 9, 2011
651mL at RBSG in Philly 2011. The infamous BeerAdvocate White Wale it Forward p2 (WWII) catastrophe beer. The pour is a clear deep ruby looking like cola. A small tan head leaves spotty lace. Nose is red fruity and apple heavy thankfully moving to meat and fat with spicy bourbon. Taste is buttery bourbon and soft with lots of hot and warming alcohol, tannic oak. Ends ashy and bitter with spicy bourbon and black peppercorn. Pretty nice overall. chibuck (3521) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 27, 2011
750ml bottle into my Rochefort glass.
Light black pour without much head. Light tan head for a second, poor retention and lacing...The aroma is sweet with lots of nice sweet bourbon on the front. Some light coffee and vanilla on the end. Its a really nice smooth bourbon, makes you really want to drink it...The taste really lets me down sadly. The sweet bourbon presents on the front but then you are attacked with a very harsh grain alcohol taste and bitter coffee. The aroma was so smooth so this is taste is super disappointing...The feel is light, but has a very lasting bitter finish...Drinkability is only so-so.
Overall, this is ok, nothing special, don’t trade anything great for this. Decent to drink but does not mask the alcohol at all..

Black, a bit of reddish brown highlight with a swirl of foamy carbonation.
smells oaky with vanilla, lots of vanilla, i love vanilla... mmm. some malty caramel notes and a touch of roast/coffee/chocolate, but not much.

Bottle. Dark black pour, small, tight tan head. Chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla, bourbon, oak, light burnt notes. This beer certainly isn’t doing anything new, but it is quite delicious. SpringsLicker (3677) - Tennessee, USA - DEC 31, 2010
Draft at Brewgrass.
Black with a tall, dark tan head.
Big malty, bourbon aroma.
Sweet start with a touch of bitterness at the end. The bourbon touch is just right, not weak, not overpowering.
Excellent BA beer. kbutler1 (1382) - Minnesota, USA - DEC 28, 2010
Bottle. Poured into a tulip glass a dark brown coor with a collared tan head around the glass. The aroma has a nice bourbon aroma with roast and slightly boozy. Medium mouthfeel with light carbonation. Not very sweet taste with a nice bourbon taste followed by a slight bitter leather aroma. Lingering bitterness. Pretty easy drinking.
