Bottle [2012 edition] @ home. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized quickly diminishing dark brown head. Aroma is malts, bourbon, bourbon sweetness, vanilla. Lovely. Flavor is dark malts, soft roast, loads of bourbon, vanilla, pretty sweet bourbon flavor flowing into chocolate and light mocha before ending with a moderate malt-slight booze bitter finish. Medium body, oily and lightly sticky texture, soft carbonation. Good beer for sure, but I was so blown away (4.7) by the original that perhaps my expectations were a little too high. Thoroughly enjoyed it though. Maddog (528) - Kettering, Ohio, USA - JUN 9, 2015

"a little light on the body for an impy stout, but smooth, and otherwise pretty nice. the jack comes through fairly strong in the aroma and especially the aftertaste, but not overdone. i’m not a huge JD fan (i liked the JD/Buffalo Trace one better) but this was done well." jackl (8287) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUL 22, 2014
Keg @ Brewvival 2014. As ’Blanton’s Blackbeerd’. Brown pour with no head whatsoever. Mellow smoky nose. Vanilla and bourbon-soaked wood. Chocolate and dark roasted coffee. Earthy mineral and ashy notes. Dark chocolate, smoked tea. Cream and coffee ice cream. Supple and oily. Quite solid. vtafro (7445) - Wayne, New Jersey, USA - JUL 15, 2014
(backlog) RBSG ’11 GT Bottle. Black pour with tan head. Sweet vanilla, touch of oak, roasted, smoke and tons of bourbon tones. Advocate_Ames (635) - Steubenville, Ohio, USA - JUN 2, 2014
2012 barrel aged bottle. Pours a deep black with a mocha cream like head that hugs my glass. The aroma is of sweet bourbon, wood, vanilla, toasted malts, soft chocolate scents, and a mild coconut aroma. In tasting I noticed a pleasant bitter cocoa flavor, soft to moderate intensity of sweet bourbon, with sweet carmelized malts, and a light roasted malt character. The finish has a balance between alcohol and a sugary sweetness with a soft bitterness. Overall I am very impressed with this beverage. It was very flavorful with defined tasting notes. The Blackbeerd was also very drinkable and was kind to my palate. I would kindly welcome this beverage again. Drake (14059) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 24, 2014
Kentucky Fried Charleston Trip Beer #72. Draft at Brewvival. Pours an inky dark brown color with a thin white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, wood, vanilla, bourbon. The taste is big bourbon notes, vanilla, wood, chocolate, roasted malts, herbal hops. Quite nice.
