22 ounce bottle. Pours black with a nice tan head. Aroma of malt, chocolate, and coffee. Taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, caramel, and some dark fruit. Outstanding. superspak (5781) - Michigan, USA - JUL 16, 2016
12 ounce can into snifter, canned on 3/15/2016. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a small dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings around the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted oats, dark bread, brown sugar, molasses, light smoke/char, herbal, pine, light pepper, slight licorice/dark fruit, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted oats, dark bread, brown sugar, molasses, light smoke/char, herbal, pine, light pepper, slight licorice/dark fruit, and roast/toasted earthiness. Moderate roast/char and herbal/spicy hop bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted oats, dark bread, brown sugar, molasses, smoke, char, herbal, pine, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance and zero astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from roast/hop bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and fairly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a great Russian imperial stout. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering. Bottle @ home. Opaque pitch black color, full sized dense brown head. Aroma is malts, light roast, chocolate, a hint of liquor. Taste malts, again light to moderately roasty, slightly sweet malts in the distance, chocolate, a touch of mocha, softly bitter. Medium to full body, suitable fairly soft carbonation, velvety mouthfeel, oily texture. Absolutely delicious! One of the best beers I’ve ever had. Fantastic! corby112 (2804) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 11, 2015

Pours viscous, jet black and completely opaque with a one finger dark beige head that slowly settles into a lasting ring. Streaks of spotty lacing left behind.
Sweet, slightly roasted malt aroma with a balance of burnt sugar, dark malt and cocoa. Notes of dark chocolate, oatmeal and spent coffee grain countered by lactose, bakers chocolate and toffee. Stronger alcohol presence than expected.
Tastes very similar to the aroma with the addition of a surprising hop forward flavor that has somehow held up for four years. Dry and earthy with subtle resinous pine flavor that lingers over the complex malt profile into a dry finish. Underneath the earthy hops, there’s a nice balance of sweet and roasted malt notes. Lots of dark chocolate, licorice and alcohol sweetness countered by slightly acrid, roasted coffee bean flavor along with oatmeal, toast and burnt sugar. More alcohol flavor than I prefer but not hot per say with a well masked ABV. A decent imperial stout but the barrel treatments of this beer are a vast improvement. Big, bittersweet chocolate, sweet, boozy aroma. Deep root beer black-brown. Sweet, leathery, raisiny, moderately roasted. Tasty. Charred chicory and bittersweet cocoa aftertaste. Thanks to someone at Proof for the shared sample. GenDV138 (7467) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - AUG 7, 2015

22oz bottle pours a thick black with some foamy, tan head. Nose has a ton of licorice and molasses, booze, bread, caramel, dark chocolate. Flavor is very chewy with malt and molasses, licorice, coffee, chocolate, burnt caramel. Full bodied but also dry. Well nuanced, lots of character. radagast83 (8185) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - AUG 1, 2015
Yar, from a 500ml bottle. Poured a dark caramel cola color with a small wispy off-white head, as dark as yar soul matey. Aroma was light dark fruits, some bitter dark chocolate. Flavor more heavy on the dark fruits, light bitter chocolate. solidfunk (9178) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - AUG 1, 2015
Quite nice. Lots of dark chocolate and roast. Creamy thick pour with mocha head. Finish bitter like a list pirate booty. Great balance like a ship on the horse latitudes. Bottle from Charleston beer exchange.
