Bottle: The aroma has lots of black licorice along with light dark chocolate, coffee, and a touch of vanilla. It pours a dark brown with some orange highlights around the edges of the glass and a small beige head. The flavor starts with a light dose of chocolate. A jet black pour with fluffy tan head. It is black by the way. Stars do not escape its blackness. Scent is sweet malts, coffee, hints of chocolate. Taste is, well amazing! Opaque brown-black with great lacing. Lots of wood and smoke on nose with a note of coffee. Full bodied with more smoke and espresso on on a round malty palate. Excellent!

The nose is cocoa, roasted malt and coffee. The taste molasses, some faint dark fruits, roasted malt, dark chocolate and bitter coffee. Medium bodied. (bottle - 22 oz) Dark black oil pour with a thick and creamy tan head. Rich and malty aroma with a lot of coffee and burnt malts. Very light hint of smoke and some coffee as well. Lots of roasted and burnt malts at the start of the flavor. Good solid roasty carbon middle with a bitter and roasted finish. Couldn’t really taste the smoked malts and it was a little thin. Pours medium brown with a head that disappears fairly quickly. Nose is dominated by roasted malts. Also, some coffee and hop aromas. Flavors are of very bitter chocolate, roasted malts, tobacco, black coffee, hops, and smoke flavors. Its almost like a tug o war between roasted malts and sweet malts. Roasted malts outpowering with bitter tobacco dark like coffee flavors. Medium bodied. Long bitter roasty lingering finish. A bit too bitter for me. Needs more balance. Something is missing. Not bad. Good overall but wouldn’t try again.
