Courtesy of bobby8405. Pours deep dark with copper edges and thin tan head. The aroma is a bit mild with chocolate, roastiness, black strap molasses and some malt infused earthiness. The taste is smooth with chocolate, dark roasted malts, full thick earthiness, some coffee and black strap molasses. Nice tasty brew. Had at RBWG 2010 at Redlight. Big thanks to OrlGameCock at RBWG for the state tick. The aroma is dark chocolate covered cherries with coffee, cream, sour, and more. @ Carolina Goes Sour- to switch things up a bit. Thanks to JCB? Bomber. Pours almost black with a thin yellow head. Aroma of oxidized fruits, sweet fruit juices. Nearly black pour with a nice tan head. Roasty and toasty aroma with tons of chocolate. Prunes and molasses too. Flavor is both sweet and bitter. Chcocolate and coffee with prunes. Damn nice.

Bomber from the 1st batch (bottled 2/18/08). Poured clear, deeper brown (but nowhere near black) with a spotty cap of tan head. The aroma picked up buttery molasses and black patent malts with an enjoyable kick from the smoked malts around the nose.. this seemed past its prime both in malt degradation and the lack of appreciable hops. The flavor found the same malt bill and smoke presence as the nose.. grainy molasses and black patent marred a bit by butter cream, with nice smoked malts around.. again the hops were barely there, just showing a little earthy bitterness with coffee and smoke on the edges. Medium-plus bodied with low-ish carbonation on the palate.. moderate roast.. methinks this just didn’t hold up that well. I’ll try a fresh sample if presented to me. A: Pours a dark black with a small head. Light retention and some spots of lace.
S: Lots of roasted malt, chocolate, smoke, and band aid.
T: No band aid which is a good thing. Very roasty toasty with light chocolate notes. There is a molasses or dark fruit like sweetness before a nicely hopped bitter finish.
M: On the fuller side of medium, nice carbonation.

Draft at Brewvival: Smoky nose. Brown with a huge brown head, good lacing. Smoked flavor of rancid meat. Charred oak finish. Alcohol evident. Could pass for a rauchbier but not a good one.
