Bottle shared at Rapture release, thanks to Dmac. Pours out black with a moderate tan head. Aroma is of roast, chocolate, light coffee, and a touch of smoky earth notes. Taste is roast, chocolate, coffee, light earthy smoke and a little tell of the alcohol content on the finish. Solid. johnnnniee (4312) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - SEP 22, 2011

Received in trade form brentk56, thanks for the opportunity!
Pours a solid black color with a decent sized fluffy tan head that shows moderate retention. This smells incredible from the moment I pop the cap until I stick the bottle in the recycle bin. Dark fruits, caramel, licorice, chocolate, hints of smoke, its all in here. Little to no hop presence in the aroma. Taste is caramel and chocolate up front, licorice, dark fruit and faint hints of alcohol and hop deep underneath. Smooth chocolate frappe creamy mouthfeel, light level of carbonation, medium to thick body. I wish I hadn’t sat on this one so long because I’d love to know what its like fresh. This is drinking beautifully right now, too bad its the only one I’ve ever seen. PhillyBeer2112 (2850) - Oviedo, Florida, USA - SEP 22, 2011

Blackbeerd is a sneaky sumbitch, wrapping its arms around you in a lovely stout embrace, all the while slipping hops into your glass when your back is turned. The beer undergoes a notable transition from dry to sweet as it warms, yet maintains a firm, bitter finish that turns the chocolate center into a smoky mocha fade. (That’s kind of fun to say: Smoky Mocha.) The alcohol tickles but doesn’t linger, making this pint disappear startlingly fast. Awesome stout. (2/10/09)
