Bottle. Courtesy of CarolinaKevin on BA. Bottled on date of 03/08/11 Poured into a DFH snifter glass. The appearance is a cloudy apricot orange with a light tan 1 finger head. Decent lace as the head slowly settles. Danky citrus and tropical fruit notes in the nose of orange, grapefruit, and mango. Medium mouthfeel with a nice amount of carbonation. Sweet upfront with a building bitterness. The sweetness is a nice combo ot the tropical and citrus flavors mentioned in the nose. Some alcohol notes present as well. Ends with a lingering bitterness. Pretty decent overall and th bottle art is pretty sweet!

The beer pours a very murky opaque ugly light brown. There is a light white head. The aroma is light hops along with the taste. Pretty hoppy as well. Pretty decent overall but nothing I would search out.

On tap at Mellow Mushroom. Amber pour, small bubbly head. Aroma is rife with resinous and leafy hops, along with citrus notes. Flavor brings more evergreen and orange rind, along with an increased earthy presence. Sticky, slightly syrupy mouthfeel, and having finished the pint before my food came I definitely felt that 7.7%. Pretty good stuff.

UPDATED: JUN 2, 2011 Drinking HopArt is akin to chewing on a fresh cascade hop. The hops concentrated into this single IPA are deliriously potent, with a smooth malt backing that keeps things from reaching Ruination-like levels of bitterness. HopArt is a dry, piney, gorgeous pint of beer, and it keeps us Charlestonians satisfied while we wait for the next batch of COASTs nigh-perfect DIPA, Boy King.

Big amber pour, chunky fluffy head. Nice citrusy piney nose...taste was the same, but a nice sweeter maltiness that is sometimes missed in our beloved west coast ipas. This was way to drinkable, almost finished it without enjoying it. Overall, i have had a ton of the east coast ipas but this is up there with the best, and pretty close in my top 10 for all IPAs.big thanks on this, need more.

UPDATED: APR 2, 2016 Perfect color for an IPA- really solid beer. Not quite excellent- really good, almost too simple. A solid IPA. Cant decide what it is missing to make it excellent. Would definitely have again- available in growlers at Mt. Pleasant Whole Foods for 12$ Can at Xiao Bao. Still good- Edmunds Oast calls it "arguably the flagship IPA of Charleston". Dank and malty and slick mouthfeel. Bitter at the end. Lives up to style unapologetically. Respect.

22 oz bottle fr Charleston Beer Exchange. Huge hop aroma with notes of dishsoap. Very cloudy in the glass with noticeable chunks (bottle 2 weeks old). Body a little thin. Reminded me of a weaker version of Stone Ruination with aggressive, not floral, hops (nugget & simcoe). Lots of grapefruit but not much of the malt as promised on the label. Plenty hoppy but struck me as a one note beer. Certainly not bad but I was hoping for more.
