Draft at The Lodge Hilton Head from notes. Pours a clear amber/copper color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor had nice grapefruit and orange citrus character, resin, and leafy hops, pale toasted malts, caramel, moderate bitterness, solid DIPA, I was happy to come across this because I remember trying to get a bottle when it first came out.

On tap in Greenville, SC. Pours with a clear copper body topped by a bubbly white head. Aroma: piney hops with herbal, floral and bready aspects. Flavor: much hoppy but with enough malts to create a good bitter/sweet balance and to add some toffee and bread notes. Moderate complexity. Feel: medium+ body. Overall; malty and refreshing version of a DIPA.

12 oz. can purchased at the brewery (given to me by a co-worker). Canned April 12, 2016. Dark orange pour with a creamy off-white head. Nice aroma of tangerine, grapefruit rind, and wet grass. Taste of fresh pine, grapefruit, peach, and faint toffee. Lingering but certainly not unpleasant finish. A great DIPA!

BOD 10/14/15. Slightly hazy medium amber pour. Outstanding head volume, world class lacing and retention. Outstanding nose of citrus hops (orange, grapefruit), tropical hints (mango, melon) and a nice dose of pine coupled with a spicy spruce element. Heavy light body with a smooth texture that has oily aspects. Slightly above normal carbonation with a touch of effervescence in the middle and a fairly prickly finish. The flavor profile is outstanding. Intensity is solid, but not over the top. The beer is nicely complex and quite well balanced. Orange rind and pine are the dominate flavors, with tropical notes appearing in the middle over a solid biscuit sweetness with a heavy caramel influence. The middle bitterness is moderate and is balanced with a rising sweetness as the bitterness fades. Here, also, is where the tropical notes are at their peak yielding a blended burst that fades into a nice sweet orange. The sweetness fades as the finish approaches and allows the spicy spruce to shine. Unfortunately, this is where the alcohol becomes uncovered yielding an astringency that prevents this quite outstanding beer from attaining world class status. The finish leaves that alcohol burn at the back of the throat and an astringent bitterness that lingers.

Tap. Dark copper and unfiltered. Aroma of apricots, peach, and caramel. Upfront bitterness that is immediately hit by caramel sweetness and then juicy orange, apricot, mango flavors. Very good. Borderline too sweet IIPA but very good.
