Coedo's beer is brewed from selected malts and hops with the technique of beer artisan, braumeister.

With the stark contrast of its clear golden hues and fluffy pure white head, this premium pilsener boasts a crisp refreshing taste. The name "Ruri" is Japanese for the gemstone Lapis, representing the pure clarity this beer abounds in.

Hazy yellow. No head to remember. Aroma is a little fruity like a.hefe. taste is lots of.straw some banana, and yeast. Tastes like a pils cold but a hefe as it warms. I want to say its better, but just above better than average.

Bottle, shared with Parksy. Hazy medium gold with an average white head. Aroma and flavour are pale malts, quite chewy with a brewer’s cereal feel and flavour. Barely any hop presence. Unsure of the age on this bottle, but as a pils this is a dud.

Bottled at Narita Airport. Clear yellow, small head. Rich grassy hop aroma. Mid dry with medium body and firm mouthfeek. Grassy salty with distinct bitterness. Solid pils.

0,35 l can. I have had some Coede beers before, probably also this one - but somehow they have felt quite ordinary. This time did proper tasting with aroma glass :) This is supposed to be "Japanese style pilsener". Considering that al major brews in Japan are pilseners, it would be difficult to stand out for this one. Appearance is nice though, yellowish pale, with dissipating top. Aroma is the biggest surprise - it is actually very nice, somewhat sweet with some mango and banana. Taste is smooth, some soft fruit tones give way for mouth-filling bitterness. Not too much of hop aromas / tastes flying around but you can definitely feel some hop bitterness. Aftertaste is quite classic, dry, some remaining bitterness. Overall nice pilsener - although in these days I am more into "bigger" beers, this is a nice take on the style.

Pale yellow slightly hazy appearance with very small foamy white head, flat, bitter taste, roasty aroma, bitter finish.

Light caramel malt aroma. Sweet roasted malt, some hops, bitter finish. Overall a bit too bland, but not that bad for a German-ish pils.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2014 29.06.2013, 0,3l bottle @ Hakkasan NY:
Small shortlasting head. Aroma is slightly neutral, light malts, rice, caramel, hay, hints of hops. Taste is slightly dry, light malts, hops, hay, caramel, hints of grass. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Actually pretty nice for being a Japanese pilsner.

Bottle received chilled from the brewery. I was pleasantly surprised by this. Quite tasty, strong floral notes which make this quite a unique pils.

Can from Ueno station. Fairly standard pilsner. At least it isn’t bland and boring; decent body to it. Not bad but nothing amazing. Fine.
