Keg. Big chocolate malt, although perhaps unbalanced. Higher alcohol evident, hot.

Tap. Great beer. Aromas of chocolate, vegemite, liquoice, and coffee. Taste is sweet, with bitter notes, and long lasting. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Dark brown, with a frothy white head.

Sample on tap at the 2007 Western Australian Beer Week Launch Poured a very dark brown, with insipiring tan head, aromas of dark raosty malts, and some dark fruits. Flavour dominated by rasted malts, with nice balancing sweetness, hops hard to taste. Pretty satisfying.

eczematic (1325) - Adelaide, AUSTRALIA - MAR 12, 2007
UPDATED: MAR 13, 2007 textbook robust porter, basically a tarry dry stout without the roast barley bitterness (like sam smith taddy porter), however with plenty of hops. aggressively hoppy and roasty with complex fruity esters, clean, fairly fullbodied but not thick. some evidence of molasses maybe on the nose. a great mixture of black and bright green like a bushfire’s just been through and the bright green shoots are sprouting out at all angles from the charred trunks.

Dark chestnut brown with aromas of coffee and toast. Big rich palate of roasted malt and hops, well balanced and complex. Very satisfying!

bluevegie (3073) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JUN 14, 2005
UPDATED: SEP 16, 2005 Real deep dark brown body with a lovely medium tan head that was large and rocky. Head didn’t last the whole distance but left some solid lacing initially. Aroma was of hops mainly (Cascade?) and then some roasted malt. Taste was well balanced, the hops are still there but along with some soft chocolate, bitterness is light and at the very start of the palate, medium to full body and a chalky finish. You notice the alcohol right at the end if at all. This beer just lacks a little more bitterness to top it off. If you are into dark beers and also appreciate hops you will love this beer. This Brewer is a hop head and it will be sorry to see him go to New Zealand.
