Bottle. Pours a cloudy dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is quite sweet and malty. Flavor is a delicious blend of malts and a slightly bitter finish. Very nice. WeeHeavySD (3387) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 11, 2009
12oz dalekliz brought back from Ohio for me. Pours brownish with a tan head. Nose is muddy malt. Taste is eh. BeerBelcher (972) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUL 6, 2009
Had this at Surly Girl while attending the Doo Dah parade in downtown Columbus. Seems like this is the week of the Scottish Ale in my life, and they’ve been pretty good to me.
This beer came served with a cloudy clay-colored body with good head formation. Aroma was a bit earthy and a touch smokey; not out of sorts for a Scottish Ale. Flavor was more of the same; maybe with a bit more maltiness. Mouthfeel was a touch watery.
Judging from the ratings on the site, this beer travels well...not sure why given its relatively moderate rating...interesting.
Not a superlative beer, but definitely a pleasant one. Sort of an unconventional pairing, but I had it with some Frito pie, and it stood up quite well to the spiciness in the chili. I enjoyed it and would recommend it. dalekliz (923) - New Jersey, USA - JUN 26, 2009
Bottle. Pours a clear dark brownish-red with a white ring. Sweet aroma of toasted malt, sugar, vanilla. Taste of sweet malt and sugar, with a bit of sharper smoky toast and hops. Lingering light smoky-sweet malt that finishes a bit watery. Pretty good. lb4lb (2627) - Austin, Texas, USA - JUN 1, 2009
bottle thanks to nrbw23. Thanks! Pours orange and hazy with a ridiculously overcarbonated, large head. Definitely infected or somehow messed up. Smell is sweet, every so slightly peaty and caramel. Taste is tart, sour, and obviously infected. Definitely a bad bottle. Oh well...

Draft at the brewpub. Filtered brown amber-orange color. Malty, but not aggressively thick. Really straightforward. Sweet, with a a spicy hop balance. Comes off almost Lager-like to me. OK. jimmack34 (640) - Lancaster, Ohio, USA - MAR 3, 2009
12 oz bottle. Poured deep amber brown with a frothy off white head. Smells nicely malty, slightly roasty, and vanilla. Tasted like burnt grains, bread, sweet smoke, and moderately hopped. Nice sweet malt aftertaste. Very nice. goldtwins (4320) - Nesconset, New York, USA - FEB 24, 2009
Poured a hazed amber color with an off-white head. Grainy cereal malt and hops aroma. Tart malt and cereal flavor. zach8270 (4021) - Henrietta, New York, USA - JAN 11, 2009
(bottle - 12 oz) The second from my trade with jb. Clear ruby pour with a creamy looking off-white head. Aroma is rather earthy with good hints of toasted malts, nuts, smoke, peat, and some cocoa. Very smoky at the beginning of the flavor that gives way to an interesting tartness in the middle that blends with a nutty flavor and ends with a zesty and smoky fruit and nut finish. Lots of malts throughout. Really nice. xpimptastikx (103) - Austin, Texas, USA - NOV 3, 2008
Pours a dark amber. Smells lightly hoppy with malts. A good session beer with a decent amount of flavor.
