2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Festbier pours medium copper hazy with a half inch thick head of white bubbles. Nose is medium malt with just a hint of caramel. Taste is medium malty, just a bit weaker or more watery than expected. Body is smooth and thin. Finish is just a bit of warming good bitter.
Meh. Not a great beer. Aroma was this nasty lager off smell that borders skunkiness. A touch of roasted malt in there. Pour was a clear dark gold/light brown with a thin off white ring for a head. Taste was lightly malty with that off flavor of a skunked lager. It wasn’t skunked per say, but those phenols just did not work. Light carbonation and lager yeasty finish. superspak (6009) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - NOV 29, 2016
12 ounce bottle into dimpled mug, bottled on 8/30/2016. Pours lightly hazy deep orange/copper color with a 1 finger fairly dense off white head with decent retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Slight spotty lacing clings on the glass. Good appearance. Aromas of brown sugar, brown bread, and toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of nuttiness, caramel, toffee, herbal, pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of bready malt and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Some yeast fruitiness as well, but not overwhelming. Flavors of brown sugar, brown bread, and toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of nuttiness, caramel, toffee, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, herbal, light pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness for a short bit. Nice balance and solid robustness of bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, and fairly grainy/bready mouthfeel that is good. A bit too thin and not creamy enough. Fairly clean on lager flavors; with some light yeasty fruitiness present in aromas and flavors. Overall this is a pretty good Oktoberfest style. All around good balance and solid robustness of bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink. Not as clean or robustly malty as I hoped; but the flavors were still good for the style expectations. A nicely enjoyable offering. DialSquare (5130) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - AUG 28, 2015

Draft pour. Pours a translucent copper with a white head of foam. Aroma is a little spicy and cake-like. Carrot cake. Doughy and spice taste. Lighter body and subtle carbonation. Tmoney99 (14968) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 18, 2012
Tap sample at CMF 2012.. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate earthy and toasted malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met. Pint at CBC. Clear amber to copper pour with a thin tan head. Malty and caramelly nose with light fruit and some hop. Malty and nutty flavor with some caramel and roast before a bitter hop finish. Nicely done. daniellunsford (105) - - SEP 6, 2012
Pours a rich copper with a fluffy 2 finger head. Musty funk, tangy yeast on the nose. Chocolate, metallic, german hops, and enough sweet malt to balance out the whole package. jsquire (4599) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - OCT 23, 2011
On tap at the brewpub. Amber color with a white head that shrank to a lasting whisp. Light sweet malty nose. Flavors of caramel, dried malt and bread crust. A little hop kick at the end. Very nice with my lunch. rondphoto (4494) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - OCT 17, 2011
Medium amber, good head dissolves to edge quickly. Light lace. Understated, but nicely done. Bright, sweet, spicy caramel malt. This is "Lite Octoberfest" in the best sense of that term. It seemed thin at first, but quickly filled in to be a solid session choice. Well done.
