4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Always grab some sixers of this when in OH visiting the in-laws. Noticed I never gave this a proper review. 12oz bottle into a goblet. The pour yields a dark honey-amber with a thick frothy bone-white head. Great retention, with spotty lace left behind. Pine, citrus, floral overtones. Nothing new here, but the aroma is so potent and fresh. Love it.
Medium carbonation gives this beer enough heft to hold up the flavors, but without any lasting astringency. The reason I love this beer so much is the perfect balance between the bitter hops and sweet malty backbone. I would say this even leans slightly to the sweet side, which isn’t a detriment to it at all. Grapefruit, musk melon, orange give this a nice fruity quality. The hops add just a touch of oily feel as well, and they don’t linger too long on the aftertaste. Just enough "burn" to satisfy the hop-head in me, but fleeting enough to keep me gulping this one. This is one of the most drinkable and approachable IPAs I have had, and it will be one I continually buy when in the area. Can’t wait until Christmas when I can get some more!

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 11/3/2016. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy golden/amber color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, honey, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of bright citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, honey, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/grassy/citrus peel bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, melon, lemon/orange rind, pine, honey, bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/grainy/sticky, and lightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.3%. Overall this is a fantastic IPA! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the balanced bitterness. Very bright and pretty juicy/dank on hop flavors. A highly enjoyable offering. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - OCT 5, 2016

12 oz. bottle at Robert H’s wedding; bottled on 8/24/16. Aroma: Prominent butterscotch with lighter, astringent citrus. Appearance: Coppered, somewhat hazy gold with soft carbonation holding up a tuft of foamy tan head that settles into a sticky skin. Flavor: Sweet butterscotch hard candy up front with dose of citrus hops that are much more bitter than juicy; the finish is bitter and semi-sweet. Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation, bitter finish. Overall: Old-school American IPA that’s a bit of an anachronism in the current market. ganache (5908) - New Jersey, USA - AUG 9, 2016
Bottled on 061616. Nose a little bland, hints of spice and earth, grapefruit paramount. Pour hazy orange with golden undertones and a very large and rocky, oily cream head. Taste very dry with medium resin, light spice, medium grapefruit but the citrus is a little muddled; overall flavor profile is also a bit muddled, some nice medium caramel with medium bitterness, flat and clean, not too earthy. There’s some fresh malt but not much of it, but the top notes of lemony citrus are bright and the overall effect is fresh and clean. Fullish body a bit flabby, but that doesn’t detract from the refreshing character or smooth go-down. Mixed bag, really, with some potential after tweaks.
