A crisp unfiltered Kellerbier. This traditional Bavarian style originated from the small artisanal breweries of Franconia, where Kellerbier is still a favorite beverage in the local beer gardens.

12 ounce bottle (2011 batch with new label). Served in a mug, the beer pours a hazy gold color with about an inch off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is grainy (wheat?) and sweet malt, citrusy hops (lemon peel), and a bit of grassy hops. Taste is similar to the aroma, it tastes mostly like grain/wheat/bready malt and some citrusy hops (lemon peel). Mouthfeel/body is light, it’s crisp and easy to drink. I think it’s a nice refreshing brew, a good choice for summertime. I can’t believe I haven’t tried this before, I might have to pick up some of this over the summer. Definitely worth a try.

FROTHINGSLOSH (8069) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 30, 2011
Travis brought this one to the Memorial Day Party. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark golden color with a large yellow-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was tangy and citric with notes of cardboard and bread. The flavor was sour and tangy with pronounced butter and notes of lemon, chalk and cardboard. The finish was long and tangy with lingering butter, bread and citrus. Medium body. Disappointing.

This poured a clear golden color with a white head. Aroma was light malts and grassy hops. Flavor was very well balanced, not too sweet, mellow bittering and grassy hops but still a bit bland.

12oz bottle via trade. Pours a great clear golden color with a nicely formed white head that fades to a thick foam layer. Very good lacing. Floral and grassy hops on the aroma, along with a very grainy pale malt base. A little citrus in there. The flavor is a little strange. Really grainy and corny with sweet pale malt and floral and grassy hops. Really heavy on the orange juice flavor, which is a little rough and hurts the balance. Medium-bodied and fairly crisp, but the orange lends a slightly strange astringent note here. A strange beer overall. Not terrible, but a little less than I expect from this style.

Panzuriel (2333) - Westerville, Ohio, USA - SEP 10, 2010
12 oz bottle. Pours a light golden yellow with a thick head of white foam. Nose is light citrus hops. Taste is rather dry with hints of citrus and floral hops. Very light but medium textured body with good carbonation. Finishing lightly bitter. A good traditional keller/kolsch type beer.

koopa (338) - , New Jersey, USA - MAY 26, 2010
Appearance: Pours a translucent golden amber like that of the movie Jurassic Park! The crown is billowy, light beige, and about 2 fingers thick. Retention is strong and lace is everywhere. Smell: floral hops and wet grass hallertau style hops combined with a pleasant citrus note that is not quite as bright as an orange but on the sweet acidic side....can’t place it. Taste: Now I’m getting that note I couldn’t identify in the nose...bitter under ripe grapefruit. like licking the white skin on a peeled citrus fruit. Other than that the beer is pretty tasty! Mouthfeel: Excellent carbonation, fairly crisp, but with a creamy crown! Body is a touch thick but still in the medium range. Drinkability: Sessionable if it wasn’t for the taste. JaBier (8156) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - MAY 9, 2010
Sample at CBC. Clear yellow pour with a medium white head. Malty nose, but something is off. I originally described it as toilet water, but it’s actually more like pool water. Very chlorine heavy. Flavor is creamy and butter with some grassy hop for balance. Flavor isn’t too bad for a summer session beer, but the nose definitely needs some work.

(bottle from trade w/ beervirgin72). Cloudy yellow/orange color. Medium off white head. Light citrus aroma. Light grain and citrus flavors. Lond duration. Smooth finish with lasting citrus peel flavor. Thin/slick texture. Moderate carbonation. Spare lacing.

Bottle… Hazy, straw-colored ale with a small, fizzy, white head. The bouquet is of pale malt, stale white bread and lemon peel. Full-bodied with laid-back carbonation. The flavor is of biscuit malt and earthy hops. Mojave-dry finish. Thanks to DragonStout for the bottle!
