Draught pints (many of them...) at the Swans show & a mini-growler enjoyed the next day. Full disclosure: I’m friends with the owner/brewer of CBW (rudolf here on RB), and it was his invitation that had me visiting Buffalo for the Swans concert. But even if I didn’t have that personal connection, this would still be an excellent beer. Colour is deep almost-black with blood red tones, and a medium sizes off-white head. Wonderful aroma with notes of dark cocoa powder, burnt toffee, toasted hazelnut, and a bit of dark smoke. Medium-light body - thanks to the wheat - making it very. VERY easy to drink. Flavour starts with a great dark, dry roastiness, followed by some sweetened coffee notes, a bit of dark chocolate, and finishing medium-long with pine and burnt wood. A fantastic beer all around, and a worthy tribute to the mighty Swans. swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - JUL 29, 2013
draft at Blue Monk, wonderful lighter stout, Loads of chocolate, hazelnuts, light coffee. Very flavorful, solid roastiness, lighter to medium bodied. Very Nice, bring this one back JoeMcPhee (9427) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 5, 2013
Deep black pour. The nose is intense and cocoaish. A lot of black licorice and some salty soy like roast flavour. Dry palate with a lot of coffee flavour and some dark fruit. A bit of tartness and a tarry sort of finish. Light pine hop flavour as well. Really lovely brew. Warming brings up some nice herbal flavours as well. Awesome. mabel (9246) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 15, 2014

Growler courtesy of Rudy, and then eventually a tap as well at our campsite during BCTC. Pours a deep black with a thin to medium sized tan head. Big chewy roast, cocoa, chocolate on the nose. Lots of roast, chocolate, and toast. Thick and chewy, roast and cocoa. Chocolate, and long chewy brownies into the finish.

At Brewdown. Pours black with tan head. Nose and taste of toasted chocolate malt, vanilla, heavy roast and cocoa. Medium body. Nice stout. blankboy (7714) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 27, 2013
Mini-growler shared with jercraigs, mabel & Radek -- c/o j&m. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a small semi-lasting frothy tan head. Aroma has a good amount of roast -- malt and coffee -- along with a decent amount of leafy hops, some chocolate and something that resembles cassis. Flavour has lots of coffee and roasted malt along with chocolate, leafy hops, dark fruit and a dry, roasty finish. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Really good stuff. jercraigs (10591) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 28, 2013
2013-08-23. Black body with a nice foamy tan head. 4+ Aroma is dry and roasty, with coffee overtones. Flavour starts dry and roasty up front, coffee like. Sweet notes in the middle with a mild herbal fruity under current. elatively bitter throughout. Smooth average plus bodied palate, modest soft carbonation suits it nicely. Bit too roasty for my own tastes but a very solid stout. Growler from the brewery via rudolf. pete4999 (1445) - Buffalo, New York, USA - AUG 18, 2013
Small taster from the brewery. I usually don’t rate beers unless I get a full pour, but whatever. Dark, smelled pretty sweet but was surprisingly dry in a good way. I did get some of the hops, guess that’s because of the freshness. I ended up with a growler of something else. Radek Kliber (7369) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - SEP 16, 2013
Where and how: growler @ tasting
Aroma strong. Chocolate, earthy feel with slight bitter hints. Hinted caramel malts. Top end with alcohol and coffee.
Top: small tanned rocky cap, some lace shown.
Base: slight haze on brown base.
Palate : slightly dry, drinkable with lighter carbonation. Long dry finish. Medium bodied.
Taste: low hop character. Clean. Dark coffee with chocolate. Currant hints.
Other notes Solid brew but one sided approach made it less drinkable than it could be.
