Bottle from shepherds crook, Crowell. Pours black with no head. Very thin with coffee hint. Poor for a porter downender (8693) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - OCT 16, 2011
Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 3/10.20011. Near black with a decent, off-white head. fruity, milk chocolate aroma and a whiff of roastiness. Light mouth feel, with more fruit and chocolate and dryish finish. Fine, but a bit lacking in character.

Cask (handpump) at Egham Beer Festival on 18 August 2011. More very dark tawny than black. Incomplete loose beige head. Somewhat fruity aroma. As much like a mild as a porter. Fruity with a little roast twist and a hint of chocolate. Rather thin mouthfeel, understandably given the low ABV. Some bitterness in the aftertaste. Not at all bad if not much like a porter.
