bomber pours med brown, taste is vanilla, raisin, and caramel. The bourbon is is present but this is not hot at all. This is a tasty beer but its downfall is it’s way too sweet ( and i like sweet). Some addtl heat might have balanced this out better. Mrnoluv (361) - long beach, California, USA - SEP 15, 2012
This is a strong beer, not bold aroma, not great to the palate, but this is a good beer. If you like it strong you will like this one. Jesterdeal (1986) - Marlton, New Jersey, USA - SEP 13, 2012
Aroma of oaky vanilla, barleywine sugar, sugar plums, and molasses. Pours brown with a lingering head. Taste is delightful with molasses, bourbon vanilla notes, dates, and slight floral hop. A bit of whiskey burn on this one. Yummy and big.

Unique to say the least. The pour is clear amber with a thin head. The aroma is something you would not expect, loads of bourbon and vanilla with a bit of alt in the back ground. The flavor is also loaded with the vanilla along with a good bit of oak, the bourbon and booze. An excellent brew but save it for a celebration or a big wedding. ngeunit1 (1555) - Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - AUG 28, 2012
A - Pours a murky brown with a bit of orange around the edges and a finger of frothy khaki-tan head atop. The head fades down fairly slowly leaving behind some nice lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of vanilla, oak, and bourbon with some roasted bready malts, dark fruit, brown sugar, molasses, and some booze.
T - Starts off with a mix of sweet bready malts with some vanilla and brown sugar. Through the middle, the oak and Bourbon comes through with some roasted malts and molasses. The finish is a mix of sweet bready malts with some oak, vanilla, Bourbon, brown sugar, and booze.
M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a warming and sweet finish.
D - Very drinkable. Good Bourbon flavors comes through on top of a nice malty doppelbock. thirdeye11 (6162) - Dallas, Texas, USA - AUG 26, 2012
(22oz bottle) very clear deep amber/caramel color with a lasting creamy medium tan head. Nose of caramel, lager yeast is surprisingly still present, raisin, cream, a tinge of saccharin, bourbon, and charcoal. Taste of alcohol, vanilla, charcoal, wood, bourbon, cream, a touch of saccharin, caramel. Nice creamy finish, light alcohol burn that’s appropriate, easy to drink for 10%. Certainly much better than most lagers which I tend to not like. trevor211 (1681) - Seattle, Washington, USA - AUG 26, 2012
Big thanks to Matt for sharing this bottle. Transparent ruby brown -- pretty pour. The whiskey is apparent, but doesn’t dominate this one -- nice. Dark fruits, spices, caramel, maybe a bit of licorice? Really interesting flavor. A bit boozy, but a bit of time would mellow this one out a little. Good stuff! 22 oz. bottle: Pours a dark brown with ruby tones & a thin off-white head. Aroma is sweet & oaky with hints of vanilla & a bourbon presence. Flavor is rich with hints of brown sugar, vanilla, and bourbon in the oak flavor finish. Enjoyable for bourbon lovers like me.
