Pours like red cream soda with a tall lasting head. Aroma is mild with hints of red hots. Medium full nectar with good carbonation. I can see a glimpse of the Okto style trying to peep through but this bittering component slaps me in the face and I soon forget everything. Well, this is not my beer of choice under any circumstance. It doesn’t taste good, plain and simple. Not even to be cool ? No!

Bottle. Cherry red beer with a pinkish head. LIght malty, caramrl, mineral aroma. Hoppy for an octoberfest with some malt, caramel, spice, and earth. There’s a funny oily slickness to the mouthfeel. Malt lingers with a bit of fruitiness and some earth/spice.

Bomber. Pours red with a thin white head. Smells of caramel, some earthy hints, subtle peppery notes, tea. Tastes slightly bitter and spicy with some nice toasty malt hints. Decent.

Bottle from Wine & Cheese Place in (near) St. Louis, MO. Cherry red with a humongous pink head - now this really is freaky. Red dye #1 in my beer? Damn stuff even smells of red dye - pardon, of maraschino cherry. Near medium body with near creamy carbonation. Flavor is bitter noble hop over very light cherry and pale malt. This is bitter stuff, once your mind comes off the ceiling. Every sip is cherry sweet, but eventually it’s bitter as heck again. Served in a black mug it might pass as a normal and really good beer.

Bottle. Odd aroma, rather toasted with some sweet caramel notes. Flavor is extremely sweet, still not a hint of funk, tartness, sourness, nothing. It’s not terrible as a drink, if a bit sweet, but probably wouldn’t buy it again as a beer in general, and much less a lambic.

Bottle. Pours a deep red with a thick pink head, which is a little disconcerting but aside from that it’s pretty...(obviously it’s food coloring). Aroma is pretty standard for an oktoberfest with lots of sweet caramel malt. Flavor is sweet with a wheat finish and cherry syrup, somehow. It’s not bad, really, once you get over the fake-redness (to be honest, I have seen at least one other oktoberfest beer dyed red at the Gingerman in NYC, so it wasn’t THAT strange). Much better than a 2.64 and quite drinkable.

22 ounce bottle purchased at the Nugget on Covell in Davis, CA. Aroma is pretty subdued...I get some metallic notes as well as some plastic and alcoholic aromas. Not overly quaffable at all. Pours a fucked up red color with a medium pink-red head which dissipates very rapidly. Did they put food coloring or something in this shit? My shit better not be red tomorrow. Starts a little spicy with some mild hop notes, which is backed up be a decent sweet, and chewy maltiness. Pretty oily stuff and a little cloying. Finishes with more sweetness and a little more of that spicy, herbal hop flavor. I don’t know what they were trying to accomplish here, but I can tell you that it is not good and it is pretty fucked up.

I had this beer on tap last year, and I remember thinking that it was god awful - however, I do tend to like their bottled products, so I figured I would give it another shot - yes, it is red - and that is quite off-putting - I know it’s a schmaltz beer, but even this is taking it too far - if the beer ain’t a kriek, it shouldn’t look like this - you need to close your eyes to rate every other aspect of the beer, because your brain just can’t get past the food coloring look - rather bland aroma, with an odd combination of hops that doesn’t quite work - a faint caramel maltiness as well - sweet malts are forward first, but a rather strong and unenjoyable bitterness surfaces fast (these hoppier coney island lagers tend to use sort of gross hop combinations - why?) - alcohol surfaces after that - overall, the aroma and flavor are rather boring, and not all that tasty - and, of course, once I actually open my eyes and drink this stuff, all I taste is red - remember the taste of fake blood and halloween make-up? - yup, that’s it.

pours a bloody reddish purple under a fizzy pink head. i don’t really get any aroma. flavor is malty with mild hops. light-medium bodied. a light sugary sweetness lingers throughout the flavor. when i finally stop my brain from thinking its hawaiian punch, its actually a decent beer.

Trev (2023) - Lakeville, Minnesota, USA - SEP 12, 2008
Pours a disturbing kool-aid red colour with a pink head. Light piney hop aroma with hints of cotton candy (or is that my imagination?) Flavour is medium malty body with a slightly metallic bitterness and a chalky finish.
