Holy crap it’s red! I poured this out and nearly dropped it. Aroma has a decent maltiness. Lots of carbonation with an earthiness and what I think are noble hops up front. Malt is there but more bread/dough than caramel or even the vegetable notes I would expect from an ofest. I think this beer is just wrong. With such a crazy color and appearance it should be an IIPA or something more aggressive than a regular lager calling itself an ofest. I guess it’s a good enough beer but i don’t get it. nuplastikk (6289) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 10, 2008
500ml Bomber. Pours a super dyed-out red color...disturbingly artificial. If it’s not a cherry lambic you shouldn’t even think about making a beer this color. Someone call the Reinheinngesptot enforcers. I think the food dye actually interferes in a subtle way, giving the beer a chalky mouthfeel. Malty and mellow in some ways, making it at least drinkable. Hop balance muffled under the artificial taste. Big disappointment from Shmaltz. smith4498 (3647) - Winter Springs, Florida, USA - SEP 8, 2008
Pours cherry red with pink head. WTF?? Malty aroma with some floral hops. Flavors of bitterness (not in a good hoppy way) and cough medicine. Medium body with average carbonation. I had a hard time drinking this one. Magjayran (1378) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - SEP 8, 2008
First of all, making your beer artificially red is fucking stupid. Second of all, I ain’t buying that "666" ABV shit at all. These two things seriously damage the overall impression. The aroma is good. Fairly hoppy in the pine way. The flavor is a mildly pleasant clash of piney hops and oversweet malts. Still I can’t get over how stupid the whole thing is. thegreenrooster (4406) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - SEP 6, 2008
Pour is a bright red with a large pink head. Huh? Aroma is malty and not much else. Flavor is dry malts with a touch of hops and finishes with som breadyness. Nothing great and I hate gimmicks with the red food coloring to look like blood.

I had this last october, and it was a bad experiment. The red, the taste, it was just all wrong. Nice creativity but... MullMan (1099) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - FEB 2, 2008
on tap at the Spuyten Duyvil. BRIGHT pinkish red/magenta colored body, like nothing else. Bright pink creamy head. BRIGHT! aroma is hoppy, sweaty, vegetal. flavor is hoppy, bitter leafy, & a bit medicinal, but also lots of caramel malt. finish gets more hoppy bitter. more on the hoppy side, but decent enough balance of caramel malt. yobdoog (1888) - Kingston, New York, USA - JAN 30, 2008
I had this on draft. What an insane color. The beer and the head were crazy red with a hint of blood orange. I had such a hard time getting past the color that I didn’t have to much to say abou the beer. Not much of an Ofest for me. No spices. Some malts and sweet flavor with some pungent bitterness. BREWMUSKCLES (2687) - New Jersey, USA - NOV 27, 2007
good flavor as an amber astringent pale ale. bright red color with no other apparent alteration. bitter tang and hoppy citrus mid palate. sudsy foamy and not an octoberfest by a long shot....but hey not a bad beer! puzzl (3258) - New York, New York, USA - NOV 13, 2007
Draft at Hop Devil. WTF orange. Seriously.
No, seriously. Why does this have a bright orange head. Weak, light cranberry aroma. Rice. Goes down easy, light corn/rice taste, fusels, tar. Not as drinkable as a real octoberfest. And if this weren’t bright bullshit orange I would’ve given it a 3.1.
