Bomber bottle poured clear reddish hue w/ a medium frothy tan head slowly diminishing to a nice cap and some lacing. Moderate aromas of rum soaked raisins, prune, molasses, biscuit, and toffee. Initial flavor is heavy sweet with a light bitter finish of long duration. Taste of caramel, molasses, raisin, prune, toast, nuttiness, biscuit, pepper, and some yeast esters. Full bodied, creamy mouthfeel, lively carbonation and moderate alcohol in the finish. Sip this one like brandy.

Pours a brownish almost root beer colored. Sweet caramel/malt aromas. Smooth malty flavor with a nice hop bite.

22 oz. bottle from Randall’s, purchased in 2011. I’ve tried to open this numerous times over the years, always trying to get it side-by-side with the barrel-aged variant I bought at the same time, and finally opened it on Easter this year - and we didn’t have the energy for the BA variant. Go figure. Anyway, it pours a barely cloudy dark orange with a small, thin khaki head that settles into a very slim ring. The oxidation is showing after all this time, but doesn’t detract much. Notes of toasted and caramel and chocolate malts, brown sugar, earth, mild spice, and faint cardboard. Light-bodied, with modest carbonation and a smooth, toasty mouthfeel. The booze is subtle. Good beer; wish I’d opened it 4-5 years ago. But still good.

Bomber from State Line, Hazy deep brown pour with tan head. Earthy vienna malt, nuts, caramel, molasses in the nose. Tastes of caramel malt and molasses, earthy nuts, toffee, medium palate heft.

Bottled. Ambery brown colour with a small creamy off-white head. Aroma is toffee, caramel, mild nuttiness along with some alcohol and mild toasted notes. Flavour is nutty, toffeeish, a bit toasted and some alcohol. Rather low on the bitterness.

Full-bodied beer. Really grabs ahold of your tastebuds and doesn't willingly let go. Beautiful coloring. Nice head.

Krej (224) - USA - NOV 10, 2014
Pretty good. Tastes complex like a barley wine, but a little light like a lager. Very interesting beer that I’d buy again and again if it didn’t cost so much.

I like this beer a lot. A lot of good malty sweetness and a nice smooth body. I like this beer better than most barleywines I’ve had and a lot better than every lager/bock I’ve ever had.....

Bomber from Wines & More in Milford CT. Poured into a snifter. A very dark brown brew with a frothy tan head that settles to a thin lace. Sweet, earthy aromas. Flavor is sweet and thick of earthy chocolate, fig, coffee and licorice notes. Quite boozy. Lingering coffee notes.

slowrunner77 (13225) - Reno, Nevada, USA - AUG 20, 2014
Bready as a doppelbock should be, maybe with a little more extra spiced quality that doesn’t really fit...but is not altogether unpleasant either. Medium bodied and malty, a touch below average for a style I like, but enjoyed.

Bottle. deep red-orange pour with a nice tan head. Dark fruit, caramel, quite malty in both flavour and aroma. Quite boozy throughout. medium-heady body with a warming finish.
