Mermaids, those mysterious aquatic lovelies, have popped up all over the world in legend since 1000 BC. No scientific evidence has ever surfaced to support their existence, but we’re not ones to argue with folklore.

12oz bottle, received gratis from the brewery. Thanks, folks! I think I’ve tried this once before in a previous incarnation and, as with a number of their other lagers, it was pretty coarse. Current version is an improvement. Pours a brilliantly clear, deep golden color headed towards orange land; fine-bubbled white head with solid lacing. Mineral and fruity aroma, with a juicy orange note that’s dropped off slightly from it’s presence in a bottle from a week ago (that one just popped with fresh oranges); Pils malt well expressed, touch of spicy hops, nicely crisp. Medium body; medium-high to high CO2; a nice sharp jolt of carbonation at the tip of the tongue; rounded mouthfeel, showing mineral and fruity bitterness, just a touch of assertive rye (nothing coarse like earlier versions as I remember them); a solid, assertive, rounded lager with a pillowy Pils-malt middle. First bottle was even better, so drink up. Toasty, dry finish, with just enough lingering mineral bitterness.

Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - MAY 18, 2012
Bottle from the Coney Island variety pack. The beer pours a clear yellow color with a white head. The aroma is bread and grass, with a strong amount of pilsner malt thrown in. The flavor is similar with a ton of lighter malts and a little bit of grass. The bitterness is fairly low and the beer is very easy to drink and quite refreshing. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Excellent golden amber pils. The boldness of the rye enhances the spiciness. Bitter hops give hints of coriander and citrus. The stable mouthfeel lingers.
