Thanks for being my 700th, Des Moines IPA. Was it as good for you as it was for me? Drinking this beer reminded me of a little history fun fact. The Peoria tribe of Native Americans really enjoyed trolling the French settlers in the area of modern-day Iowa and told them the region was called Moingoana. The settlers took ownership of the name and French-ifed it. Little did they realize the word they named the territory after was the Native American word for shitface. So here’s to Des Moine IPA. A devilishly tasty IPA that strikes the balance between biscuit-like malt and piney, resinous hops. In other words, here’s to an IPA I’d happily get shitfaced on from the land of shitfaces. This is one of my favorite beers. Well balanced, nice lace on the glass. It reminds me of several craft beers from Minnesota that aren’t available in Iowa. Strong, hoppy and flavorful with pine and citrus, it electrifies the taste buds without triggering the actual "bitter" on your tongue. LOVE IT. Looking forward to Confluence getting this stuff canned and into the local stores. Nayho (17) - - JUN 3, 2013
Thanks to Jean who brought a growler from Iowa to Pennsylvania. Fresh cascade and chinook aroma, very nice aroma, flavor. Nicely balanced, fairly bitter, but per style for American IPA. Not quite West Coast bittering or flavor levels, but a little more drinkable. Getting it super fresh certainly helped. Next time I’m in Iowa, will definitely stop for a pint. arnold931 (1263) - Iowa, USA - JUN 4, 2014

On tap at Legends south. Pours clear golden with a thick lacy white head. Aroma of citrus hops, very sweet. Flavour is hoppy, but not thick. Finish is smoothly bitter and clean. So very refreshing.

Tap. Pours clear amber, small beige head, nice lacing. Aroma is light citra. Flavor is the same, nice citra flavors, light sweet, light bitter. Medium body, oily mouthfeel. Tiny bit of harshness in the far finish. This is a good beer BBB63 (6557) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - JUN 24, 2014
On da bus @ RBSG 2014 between the Morgan Street and 4 Hands stops: As rating on a moving bus can do not much in the way of notes... "Juicy, resiny, biscuity, piney hops. Lively sharp mouth feel." I really liked this. Of course after the sucky brews at Morgan Street about anything would have been greeted happily. TXBadger (2811) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUL 23, 2014
Pours a slightly cloudy copper color with whitr head. Pine, citrus, and bread on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a hop bite and a little bread. Nice IPA. puboflyons (3434) - Allenstown, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 26, 2015
From a growler provided by jcwattsrugger. Thank you. The pour is amber-yellow with a lingering white head. Subtle is a good deScription for the aroma with a nice toasted bread character at first followed by a little pine. Neither overwhelms the other. Smooth, creamy medium to better than medium body. The taste is evolving. It begins with the same toasted bread and biscuit sweetness and turns into a decently hopped pine finish. Enjoyable. SHIG (4962) - Wasilla, Alaska, USA - APR 20, 2016
Growler shared by jcwattsrugger: Poured a golden to orange with white bubble head. Aroma was juicy citrus hops, very fruity nose. Nice balance of piney/citrus hops and malt backbone.
