Clear medium to dark brown amber color with virtually none head. Aroma is moderate malty, berries, fruity, light caramel. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration. Body is light medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat.

Cask Conditioned at The Black Bull Hotel, Conison. Dark ruby colour with bubbly white head. Drank this after a morning climbing the mountain itself, The Old Man of Coniston is a dark rugged mountain and the beer follows suit, strong oaky and toffeeish. Cask at the brewpub. Aroma is very subdued, little nutty, some dried fruits mid copper coloured pour with a lasting frothy white head. Flavour is composed if light nutty grains, dried fruit, light berry. Palate is light and a little watery . Low carbonation. Not much to it really. OK but dull. Tap at HDG. Hazy amber beer, creamy white head. Woody hop aroma. Earthy hop aroma over slightly bready/honeyish malts. Lingering yeastiness. Decent body, balanced with a touch of berryish ester flavour. Decent bitter.
