Cask; Regular. Also available bottled.
Oats are used in the grist of this beer to give body and smoothness, enhancing the roasted barley, giving it complex flavours reminiscent of dark chocolate and coffee. This is balanced by a fresh hop bitterness and dry silky finish.

Bottle @ THT November. Pours a clear reddish brown beer with a small beige head on top. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and caramel. Slight lactose and roast detected. Flavor is sweet and chocolatety, very thin and watery mouthfeel however. Decent flavor, no finish.

On cask at the Black Bull. Appearance - opaque black with a fawn head. Nose - dark chocolate and cream. Definitely nutty too. Perhaps coffee at a push. Taste - more dark chocolate and nuts. Maybe honeycomb too so getting into a Crunchie Bar experience too. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - yep flavoursome stout.

Black pour with a 2 finger, creamy tan head. Aroma is apple, chocolate, toasted cereal and fruity hops. Flavor is hay, sweet apples, hints of chocolate, weird stale dried berries and fruity, planty and earthy hops. Light body with a creamy entry, light, sharp carbonation and dry, slightly acidic and slightly chalky finish. Meh.

Hanoi (958) - Greater Manchester, ENGLAND - APR 13, 2014
Nose is cola, blackberry, slight roast, very sweet. Taste is very sweet; blackberry, cherry, cola, leading to roast malt notes with a hint of coco. Mouthfeel is very smooth. A good beer which has surprising complexity for the style.

Bottle. Pours clear dark ruby black with a small tan head that dissipates slowly and laces pretty well. Aroma is roast, cocoa, cardboard. Flavor is pretty decent actually, light plus sweet with notes of dark cocoa, roasted malts, perhaps coffee, quite light bitterness on the back end. Medium body, well carbonated. This ain’t bad for a sub 5% beer.
