Oats are used in the grist of this beer to give body and smoothness, enhancing the roasted barley, giving it complex flavours reminiscent of dark chocolate and coffee. This is balanced by a fresh hop bitterness and dry silky finish.

fonefan (48761) - VestJylland, DENMARK - AUG 31, 2010

Cask (gravity) @ NWAF 10, National Winter Ales Festival, The Venue, Sheridan Suite, Manchester, England.

Clear medium brown color with a small to average, frothy to fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, keller, oatmeal, light coffee. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20100120]

Ungstrup (37317) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - FEB 12, 2011
Cask. A deep red beer with no head. The aroma has notes of over ripe fruits and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and roasted malt, leading to a bitter finish.

Papsoe (25063) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - APR 22, 2010
Cask. Pours an opaque dark brown with a vague orangey hue and hardly any head. Hard roasted malts in the nose with a whiff of tobacco. Medium body, a little hard roasted malt, a little licorice but dominated by tobacco, a little tar and smoke. Finishes dry with a subdued bitterness. 200110

Travlr (24315) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - DEC 4, 2014
Draft at Birch & Barley courtesy of solidfunk, thanks! Dark maroon brown color, small tan head. Aroma of cocoa and coffee. Taste has milk chocolate, coffee grounds. Light body. OK.

cgarvieuk (24236) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JAN 22, 2011
cask at NWAF ... black ... thin tanhead ... soft toffee malts nose ... big dark fruit front ... litttle thin in body ... soft light charcoal roast malts ... little dull

Cask handpull at The Market Porter. Very dark ruby, lasting beige head. Toasty roasty malt aroma. Attractive. Pretty decent. Some dark fruits. Very drinkable.

Oakes (17274) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 6, 2010
Cask, brewpub. Dark brown with a thin head. Oaty, milk chocolatey aroma is pretty appetizing. Chocolate palate with mellow nutty coffee notes. Slightly acidity at the back cuts what is otherwise a creamy mouthfeel.

500ml bottle (K Kamppi, Helsinki)
Super gingery aroma, a little sweet, like the sweeties Anna used to get from LP. And here, super means super. Alas, it’s watery in the palate, and a bit thin. Shame, the aroma promised so much. Pleasant roast, but just too watery. At 4.5% they should pump up the body with some oatmeal, perhaps.

Benzai (15486) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - NOV 28, 2014
Sampled from bottle @ THT November. Brown color, small off-white to beige head. Smell and taste malts, leaves, raisins, a hint of caramel, a hint of smoke. Average body, decent carbonation.

imdownthepub (14470) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 12, 2012
Cask conditioned at Fleetwood Beer Fest ’12. Black with cream head. Full and fruity stout with a sweetish, grainy background. There is a light coffee note that drifts in giving some bitterness. A good decent beer.
