The Territorial Reserve Imperial Stout began with a wagon full of eight different grains, resulting in starting gravity of 28P. It was aged for 13 months in bourbon barrels before blending to create a spirit-forward experience. Savor accordingly.

Thanks to the kind soul who shared this growler at the Tampa Weekly Tasting. Pours a nice obsidian color with an off-tan head. Nose is roast, oak, vanilla, black coffee, and earthy chocolate. Flavor follows with a fair amount of wood in the flavor. Medium in body for the style. Interesting Oaked stout.

Not a bad beer with rich aromas and flavors of chocolate and coffee with a sour hint of bourbon. Typical color for this style. Full bodied and smooth.

Draft/Fest. A- Green apple. A- Black color, black liquid, tan head. T- Alcohol, green apple. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, tart finish. O- Can’t believe they didn’t sample this before the fest and it was still a special release. Tons of green apple and a bit tart. Definitely had some infection going on. Unless they soured this beer like they have to it in the past.

750 ml. bottle. Pours black with an average tan head. Aroma of malt, bourbon, and chocolate. Taste is roasted malt, bourbon, chocolate, and barrel. Well crafted.

A. Pours black with a small foamy head that rises to a creamy tan body that leaves some residual lacing. S. Vanilla, oak, some creaminess, coffee roastiness T. Chocolate, a bit of vanilla, some harsh booziness on the tail M. Medium body, low carbonation that keeps the booze on your tongue. D. Eh.

chinchill (5024) - South Carolina, USA - SEP 8, 2015
Large shared 2013 bottle of "Territorial Reserve Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout". Pours clear and dark red brown but nearly black in the glass. The barrel aging may be a bit overdone, but some RIS flavors still show. 12% ABV is partially hidden, especially in the aroma.

2014 bottle thanks to soonerchamps. Black pour with a small foamy head that fades to a big bubbled ring. Big burnt caramel and bourbon aroma. Also some chocolate, coffee, oak, and dark fruit. Taste brings loads of sweet molasses, caramel, vanilla, and oak along with some chocolate and coffee beans. As it warms, some red wine and dark fruit really show up too. Big booze in the finish which is a little more than I like. Really nice and complex but just a tad boozy for me to love.

Bottle. Pours black with a thin beige briefly lasting head that leaves some lacing. aroma is heavily of bourbon and Kahlua.full body, Strong flavors of bourbon, black licorice and molasses with a weaker flavor of red wine. Has a sweet taste, average carbonation and a lingering better finish.

Tried a vertical of ’11, ’12, ’13, and ’14 in four ounce sniffers from tap at about 55 degrees. Rating above is for 2001, my favorite. 2012 is very sour. 2013 is candy sweet. 2014 is the most attractive in appearance of the four and subtlest in flavors. 2011 blows the others away in taste and smell though.
