Draft at the brewery taproom during RBWG 2016. Pours deep brown with a creamy, beige head. The nose holds ashy roast, baking cocoa. Medium sweet flavour with notes of sugary chocolate, more baking cocoa, mild earthy bitterness. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet on the finish with further sugary chocolate, good roast, charred wood. Solid, this one. SHIG (4964) - Wasilla, Alaska, USA - AUG 14, 2016
Draft at RBWG: Poured a dark roasted brown with a tan head. Aroma was super roasted malt. Taste was mix of roasted malts, chocolate and licorice. phaleslu (10747) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 25, 2016
Draft at the brewery. Pours a nearly opaque coffee brown with small lasting beige head that settles into an island of film and a ring around the edge, leaving heavy lace in the glass. Notes of roasted malts, earth, cocoa, coffee, and tobacco. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a roasty, earthy, slightly bitter and sweet mouthfeel. Nice stout. Given the ABV, roastiness, and the fact that it’s not particularly dry, I’m not sure it’s quite to style. But it’s good. slowrunner77 (12995) - Reno, Nevada, USA - FEB 17, 2016
Dry stout at nearly 8%? DSG (15301) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - FEB 12, 2016
More export style to me. Malt forward, very deep flavors. Not as smooth as the porter, but just as good.
