Now here’s a beer with punch. Coopers Stout is a beacon for lovers of a hearty brew. With its robust flavour comprising a blend of fruit, chocolate and hop bitter notes it’s everything a stout should be. Brewed naturally using a top fermentation method, Coopers Stout’s unique rich, dark texture comes from specially roasted black malt.

375ml bottle from Systembolaget Regeringsgatan, Stockholm. Pours pitch black with a tan head. Some liquorice and roasted malt in the aroma. The flavour comprises roasted malt and chocolate. Rather dry finish with some bitterness. Way better than what I expected.

Bottle from a Melbourne Coles Liqourland. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy tan head. The aroma is sweet roasty caramel malt, chocolate, coffee, liqourice, dry hop. The flavour is liqourice bitter with a roasty, dry smoke, charcoal liqourice palate and a dry liqourice bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Better than the aged version IMO.

Pours a gorgeous dark brown color with a perfectly 1 inch thick head into a tulip glass. Aroma is chocolate, licorice, warm spices, dark fruit, earthy, very roasty. Taste is dry chocolate up front with a smooth dark red fruit/berry note in the middle finished with a great slightly drying bitter note. Overall a fairly drinkable beer with pleasant roasty fall/winter flavors.

From old tasting notes. Black brown color. Thick creamy tan head. Spicy roasted malt nose. Rich sweet roasted chocolate malt flavor. Overly sweet, yet drinkable.

Strong but lacking the bite or flavour of a strong beer. Some liquorice but otherwise slightly bland and watery. I’d take it over many other beers though

Botella 33cl. Aromas maltosos, con toques de caramelo y algo de café, muy suave en sabor que se nota mas al calentar.

gopherfan99 (2000) - Minnesota, USA - APR 5, 2017
Bottle; pours black with a tan head; aroma is sweet with chocolate, licorice, roasted malts, and a hint of coffee; taste is sweet with licorice, chocolate, and roasted malts; semi dry finish has hints of dark fruits

I really like this beer. Dark as pitch, nice lacey head which stays around briefly. Initial taste is strong alcohol with chocolate/vegemite malts, and doughy bready aroma. Bitterness kicks in to balance the alcohol, and has a residual smokey licorice aftertaste. Even then changes to mossy/cigarette ash fading to earthy wood aftertaste. A very nicely balanced stout with lots going on. Only complaint is lacks a good rounded mouth feel from the bottle....
