Clear bright copper. Thin head, nice lace. Nose of malt, yeast and a bit of peat? Medium body, soft and chewy, definite malt and peaty smoke on the palate, ringwood yeast(shows up very early and at the end) adds a unique and tasty fruity compliment to the beer. Nicely rich and balanced. Good shit! I have had 3 of this breweries beers and they have been winners. dorfrx (21) - Glenmont, New York, USA - FEB 24, 2004
Excellent color, with nice head when poured. The alcohol grows towards the finish. There was a slight musty flavor, giving a ood impression of the yeast used in brewing. stephen louis (165) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 30, 2004
Flat out great.
Nice looking with a head that will last a week, the beer won’t too good.
Lots of caramel and that distinctive ringwood taste. Fruit and hops in the middle, the finish is sweet but dry.
A good amount of carbonation adds to the body. SpudClampDawg (1029) - Jasper, Indiana, USA - OCT 8, 2005
Aroma is highly diacetyl, but not necessarily out of place. The heavy, buttery notes work nicely with some light fruitiness beneath. The body is fruity and dry, highlighting a great meaty, nuttiness. Some hop bitterness fights through the fruity esters in the finish as well. Interesting to say the least. gunhaver (1030) - Tampa, Florida, USA - MAR 15, 2009
Bottle, courtesy Ibrew2or3. Hazy copper pour, light thin white head. Nose is dry, hoppy, raisin, some caramel and some must. Smooth flavors, lots of raisin, plum, hints of caramel, apricot and many dark fruits. Balanced, drinkable and full-bodied.

The body has a rich amber color, good clarity and light off white head. The head fades quickly to just a thin wispy covering. This makes a little slick lacing on the glass. The aroma has a firm malty character with a good hit of earthy and lightly citrusy hops. The flavor reflects nose with its solid, lightly toasted malty base. The malt sweetness has some toffee and nuttiness with mellow fruity notes blended with both juicy and earthy hop notes. Hop bitterness keep the sweetness in check and gives good balance to the finish. This also makes this beer very drinkable even at 7.7%abv. The palate is a medium bodied with balanced carbonation. kkearn (1165) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 22, 2007

Sampled August 2008 - 12oz bottle, from a variety pack. Pours orange-amber, topped with a large off-white head. Biscuity aroma, with notes of caramel malt, peach, apple, and mild citric hops. Flavor began with caramel malt, complimented by apricot and mild hops. Long sweet malt finish.

12oz bottle. Dark Amber color with a thin tan head. Strong malt aroma with undertones of driet fruit and a bit of peat. Strong roasted malt flavor with prunes and honey and spice in the background. Long lasting sweet malt finish with some alcohol.
12oz - Light tan head over brown liquid. Wood and creamy caramel on nose. A sweet malt palate, some molasses character. I liked this one. gkost (1069) - Alaska, USA - SEP 1, 2009
Pours a deep amber with a large tan head. Had a real hard time pulling a nose off of this. Got some yeast and some ripe fruits at first. Flavor is prune, fig, booze, caramel, some citrus. Decent hop bitterness, toasty malt and raisin. Nice. CanIHave4Beers (4188) - Pouring Bus, Iowa, USA - OCT 13, 2009
Exemplary within its style. Pours a deep amber color with a small head and good lace. The aroma is very floral semi sweet and fruity. The flavor is nicely nutty and fruity with a light herbal bitterness and some earthy and spicy hops.
