The ale was a bright copper in the glass and clear as tree amber. White lacing lingered long after the ale was poured into the glass, suggesting a well preserved, strong bodied ale. Indeed, even a light quaff could detect the noble hops (Fuggle?), but beneath lay tart spice, sweet malt, and hot biscuits. Mouth feel is surprisingly light and smooth for a beer with so much malt (five kinds—I would guess Crystal, Pale, and a Pils were used). A fruity sweetness begins the taste, but the bitters quickly go to work and the mouth puckers, losing what could be a complex taste. Although this is not a style of choice, I have had Pride’s that impressed me for their smoothness despite ABV and hearty filling; this session was a disappointing exception.
Brown reddish, smells sweet, creamy with some lactose. it’s not very good ESB but sweeter. no yeast presence. generallee08 (773) - New York, USA - SEP 16, 2014
The body has a rich amber color, good clarity and light off white head. The head fades quickly to just a thin wispy covering. This makes a little slick lacing on the glass. The aroma has a firm malty character with a good hit of earthy and lightly citrusy hops. The flavor reflects nose with its solid, lightly toasted malty base. The malt sweetness has some toffee and nuttiness with mellow fruity notes blended with both juicy and earthy hop notes. Hop bitterness keep the sweetness in check and gives good balance to the finish. This also makes this beer very drinkable even at 7.7%abv. The palate is a medium bodied with balanced carbonation. Bottle. Pours a reddish brown color with a sweet malty and bready taste. Not too heavy and nothing special. Like a boozier esb

Brown pour with slightly off-white head. Aroma of dark fruit, toffee, and caramel. Dark fruit flavor with toffee and a hint of sourness. Decent beer. ben4321 (6535) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - MAY 1, 2013

Aroma: The nose of this beer comes off as overly sweet, fruity, and a bit malty as well
Appearance: The one pours a reddish-orange color with a small off-white head
Flavor: The taste is pretty much just like the nose, overly sweet, fruity and malty
Palate: The body is medium-plus, it has a decent feel, though it does get a little bit sticky
I wasn’t a huge fan of this one. It just drank too sweetly for my tastes, and lacked the balance I was looking for. It isn’t terrible, but it isn’t really that good either.
Bottle. Pours a hazed amber with a crimson hue and a medium sized beige head that deflates quickly. Sweet fruity plum, oxidization, and a touch of paper. Medium bodied, a touch of sourness and a tartness. This one definitely got infected, but it’s not horrible. Seems to work somehow. Tart and sweet, oxidization and a bit of paper. Papery infection on the back end. Drinkable, and given the nose, turned out better than expected, but probably not what it was meant to be. Still sort of enjoyed it. wlajwl (6866) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - DEC 29, 2012
Aroma is sweetish malts and hint of vinous notes. The flavor is fruit/berries, medium sweetness and a mix of smooth and tangy in the finish. CardsPackHawks (173) - South Elgin, Illinois, USA - AUG 18, 2012
Picked up at the brewery during a trip to Cooperstown. Was not impressed with the place after visiting Ommegang first. Fruity taste, even though it is not a fruit beer. Of the beers sampled at the brewery it was the best, but overall, just OK, nothing special. xelabeer (7) - GUATEMALA - JUN 16, 2012 does not count
Poured a nice copper color, but had very little off white head which quickly dissipated. Aroma was a bit of sourish cherries with caramel malt underneath. Had low carbonation which was ok for this beer and overall balanced for the % alcohol with a bit of a fruity/cherry finish. FROTHINGSLOSH (7879) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 7, 2012
My wife brought this one back from a trip to Rochester. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a heavily carbonated orange-caramel color with a large foamy off white head that left no lacing. The aroma was ripe cherries, figs and pears with faint caramel and bread underneath. The flavor was tangy caramel and butterscotch with notes of pear, apple, raisin and fig underneath. The finish was short with a touch of bread and fruit. Light to medium body but overcarbonated. Eh.
