From the tap poured dark brown with a good amount of light brown head. Nice rich malty sweet flavor, with a good finish. PilsnerPeter (3050) - Flushing, New York, USA - DEC 22, 2006
Tap at Barcade: Pours thick oily with an initial thick brown head which fades. Nice roasty cappucino aroma. The flavor has suggestions of coffee/java icecream, followed by sweet yeasty fruityness of mangos, papayas. It’s a bit syrupy though. The flavors are great, but for some reason they don’t seem to mesh well. Still very quality and enjoyable. JohnC (3008) - Mission Viejo, California, USA - DEC 28, 2007
This brew pours nearly black with little head. Roasty with some maltiness, the body is a bit on the light side. PhillyBeer2112 (2884) - Oviedo, Florida, USA - MAR 6, 2001
Wow - intense, rich, and chocolatey.
Its like drinking a chocolate truffle.
Slightly roasty malt flavors balance
out the sweetness. Hearty body, and very
dark black color that shows a hint of brownish
red when tipped and help to the light. ilovedarkbeer (2748) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - OCT 23, 2008
Bottle thanks to Zathrus13 via BMan113VR. Thick black pour. Light brown head. Nose: roasted malt, smoke, blue stone, the odd smell that exists in the north in the late evening when it is not quite snowing yet but It will be in a few hours. (Message me if you know about this!) Taste: metal, water, grapes, chocolate, meat smoke.

UPDATED: MAY 12, 2010 From a cask at the General Lafayette Inn and Brewpub. Coffee and sweet malt aroma, black pour with light orange hilites. Full and flavorful, a bit dry. Very nice porter. Dorwart (2607) - Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA - FEB 12, 2008
Thin dense head of fine bubbles. Recedes slowly with minimal carbonation. Rich roasty aroma with some sweet molasses, black currents and bit of milk chocolate. Color is a deep dark brown with a hint of red along the edges. Sweet chocolaty flavor with some roasted grains, a bit of coffee, lactose and sweet malts. Kind of gritty carbon in the mouthfeel. Light alcohol presence. Creamy and silky smooth going down with some lingering sweet malts and and a dry roasty finish. Pretty damn good. adrian910ss (2591) - Doylestown, PA, USA - AUG 13, 2008
Pours a dark cola black with a medium sized brown head. Aroma of bitter dark chocolate, cocoa, and coffee beans. Taste of bitter chocolate, cocoa and a hint of vanilla. OhioDad (2492) - Hilliard, Ohio, USA - JAN 29, 2007
Growler via the ever generous Degarth! - Thanks Joe! - Shared last night with a non rating friend - Pours dark black with a big mocha head that stays pretty well and leaves a fair amount of lacing on the english pint that I served it in. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, and burnt malts.. Some fudgy notes there as well. Aroma was pretty dessert-like. Flavor starts out with fudge, coffee, vanilla, caramel, then some roasted notes mostly come through. A good degree of burnt flavor too before the dry yet lingeringly sweet finish. Good smooth balance and a creamy mouthfeel make this one a fine example of a porter.. Reminded me a lot of Thirsty Dog Old Leghumper.. Very robust and delicious.. illinismitty (2271) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - JUN 8, 2007
UPDATED: JUN 9, 2007 Draft at Capone’s. Pours black with a nice tan head. Chocolate and milky aroma. Medium mouthfeel and creamy texture. Flavor of unsweetened dark chocolate and mild roast coffee with a subtle tang. Just enough bitterness on the finish to balance this beer out. Reminds me of a coffee mocha shake. A very easy drinking
