Bottle. Pours dark brown/black, with almost no head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, and molasses. Flavor is chocolate, roasted malt, molasses, smoke, and coffee. Medium body, and a little under carbonated. afireinside96 (923) - Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 31, 2008
Bottle served in an English pint glass. Very dark brown topped by a small but lasting tan head. Smells of chocolate cake, plums, earth, and coffee. Tastes of coffee, cocoa, caramel. Finishes dry with an earthy bitterness, a slight alcohol burn, and a touch of lactic sourness. Very tasty. daknole (11402) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - NOV 28, 2008
bottle. black bour. small tan head. aroma is very chocolatey, fruity and some coffee and molasses peek through. flavor has chocolate, coffee, roasted malts and some dark toast. very nice porter. very, VERY nice. Jsawyer (297) - Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 12, 2009
Sampled cask conditioned and draught. Draught produced a big chocolatey head atop a lustrous obsidian colored body while the cask version had slightly less head. Aroma was strongly chocolatey, cocoa, malty, cafe au lait, and an underly sweetness reminiscent of raspberries. The flavor was roast barley, milk chocolate, medium roast coffee, and again a berry like sweetness verging on cherries or raspberries. The continuous head produced a palate that was initially creamy but not overly viscous underneath. Interestingly the cask version was very reminiscent of a yoo-hoo. Nice combo there and a great porter overall. Damico (3150) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 25, 2011
The beer pours dark chestnut black with a decent tan head. The aroma is smoky and a bit of roasted malts. The flavors bring notes of coffee, bitter chocolate, and smoke blended nicely on an easy body. The beer is delicious overall.

At the nose the beer gives off hints of roasted chocolate and it tastes just like it smells. Smoke comes through on the palate. The beer wasn’t as heavy as I expected to be but I liked it nonetheless. illinismitty (2377) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - JUN 8, 2007
UPDATED: JUN 9, 2007 Draft at Capone’s. Pours black with a nice tan head. Chocolate and milky aroma. Medium mouthfeel and creamy texture. Flavor of unsweetened dark chocolate and mild roast coffee with a subtle tang. Just enough bitterness on the finish to balance this beer out. Reminds me of a coffee mocha shake. Head is a dense chocolate milk color with fuzzy thick bubbles providing a solid head that quickly disappears to a slight ring around the edge of the glass. Ty5592 (1024) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 7, 2008
Aroma is dark red fruit and cocoa, some sweet chocolate develops as a product of the mingling of fruit and cocoa.
Taste is mildly bitter cocoa powder and touches of smoke; some notes of alcohol and carbonation. I do not get a lot of complexity out of the taste, but it tastes pretty damn good regardless.
Palate is slightly fizzy with a touch of sharpness, and a dull bitterness that stings the tongue for only a second before coating my tongue with a slightly cloying chocolate finish.
UPDATED: APR 10, 2008 Looks just like the regular CT. Black with small tan head. Chocolate, dark roasted malt, and wood is the aroma. The taste is just like the regular version but has a weird chalky ask after taste. adrian910ss (2597) - Doylestown, PA, USA - AUG 13, 2008
