2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
From can into snifter pours a clear, deep ruby...not amber like others have noted. Once thick and frothy head quickly disappeared. Taste is more roasted and malty than hoppy...again, not like others saying it's quite hoppy. Not a bad beer, would prefer more hop and lighter palette though. This, to me, is more of a red than an ESB.

Bottle courtesy of Braudog. Thanks Matt! Copper pour with a tall, dense, foamy tan head. Aroma is malty, and sweet with caramel and soft hops. Taste is floral hops, caramel, dark bread and toasted malt. Touch of unsweetened iced tea as well. Body is medium with a smooth, creamy carbonation. Ends with more toasted malt, caramel, floral hops, dark bread and iced tea.

12 ounce bottle from a trade with martinvanbeer. Thanks! The beer is a hazy copper with a wispy head of white foam. The aroma has floral notes, perfume, and cardboard. Fairly bitter and herbal. Kind of like green tea bitterness. Medium body and medium carbonation. Decent, but a bit past its prime I think. Braudog (6710) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - JUN 9, 2016
Bottle. This poured almost entirely head and took forever to settle into anything penetrable. The aroma hints at a bit of imperfection. But once this settles it drinks with a decent, rustic, meaty ESB character. There might be just a hint around the edges that doesn’t seem to fit, but overall a good quaff. This is another win for the crew over at Core! This ESB is rich in flavor with a boastful body. Best ESB on the market. beer_rookie (561) - Arkansas, USA - JAN 18, 2016
Pours a dark copper/amber color. About two fingers beige head, low retention, low lacing.

Aroma is odd. Very aromatic. Very nice. Almost like perfume. Aside from that, it’s yeasty, bready. Plenty of sweet sugar and sweet tea.
Taste is also sweet. It’s quite malty. It’s boldly bitter with earthy hops. It’s interesting.
Mouthfeel is medium body. A little oily. Finishes slightly bitter.
Overall, this is really good. Probably the best I’ve had from Core yet! I’d certainly drink this again!
This is by far my favorite ESB. Beautiful head retention. A very clean aroma of citrus up front. Mouth feel is light with a hoppy finish. Ferstl (1) - - NOV 1, 2015 does not count
This has become not only my favorite Core beer, but my favorite all time beer. Smooth, malty, with just the right amount of hops. Velvety mouth feel, with a clean finish. A great beer to have with a meal or just pint after pint. hopscotch (11078) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JUN 8, 2015
Can... Pours lightly hazed and deep-amber with dirty-orange highlights and a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head. Good retention. The aroma features spicy, peppery and citrusy hops, dust and tea biscuits. Medium to full-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and jazzy carbonation. In the flavor, big, hearty, medium-roast malts are balanced by an acrid hop bill. Nice balance here, but the flavor ends up a touch medicinal. Lengthy, bittersweet finish - more bitter than sweet. 12 oz pour from refrigerated bomber into Spiegelau IPA glass. Light brown with a strong, lasting head and notable lacing. Nose is biscuit, bread, herbal, and incredibly yeasty. Mouthfeel is creamy. Taste is alright. Nice about of bitterness, but the aftertaste is a little metallic (might be an old bottle?). I’m getting biscuit and a leafy-taste. Not too remarkable, but a good session beer. Happy to see more quality craft beers in this part of the country. weihenweizen (3824) - Charleston Area, West Virginia, USA - FEB 11, 2015
Refrigerated 12 oz. aluminum can poured into a shaker. Hazy amber with medium beige head. Aroma is light herbal hops, medium body, medium carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is caramel malt, toast, herbal hops, and light finish.
