Draft at Corner Cafe. The pour yields a hazy, dark reddish-brown body with a small, quickly fading head of off-white foam. On each sip, a watery looking body leaves behind a thin wash of suds, with some scant lacing spots to follow. The aroma shows fruity banana esters and mild clove spicing over a soft brown wheat bread base. Hops are subdued and grassy. Flavors largely follow suit, showing sweet malted wheat and soft bread notes in the base with subtle, lightly peppery clove spicing and a soft grassy hop bite on the finish. The palate is downright watery, drinking nearly as easily. Carbonation is lively, with a fine-bubbled, prickly consistency. While it is not flawed, per se, it fails to excite in any way, shape, or form. Decent in a pinch. hopscotch (11159) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 16, 2009
Draft… Pours a dark, hazy, cola color with a small, creamy, off-white head. Malty, praline aroma with very subtle notes of overripe banana and clove. Light to medium-bodied with a thin mouthfeel and dancing carbonation. The flavor is nice, toasted, buttery toffee and caramel, but not too sweet – almost perfectly balanced. Finishes crisp and refreshing, but not without a nice kiss of caramel and toffee malt to send me on my way.
