On draft at the Bar. Pours a deep black with a thick head. Aroma is decent with dark roasted malts, dark chocolate, nuts. Taste however is low flavor with a metallic finish. Very thin body. Not much going on here. SrSilliGose (3324) - pouring bus, New Brunswick, CANADA - DEC 22, 2009
pours a deep brown with a tan head. notes of roasted malts, coffee, cocoa, dust, a little basement. ok. preferred the plain porter to the stout. Brigadier (3780) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - MAR 24, 2009

Since I was in the neighborhood I stopped by for a quick pint for moving on. The choices were pretty diverse but being in the mood for a sessionable stout I chose this. Overall it was not bad but as a benchmark for average it fits the bill perfectly. Nothing about it stands out nor is it overly flawed.
Aroma / Appearance - The head cascaded downwards into the opaque black body. Fluid it moved freely around the glass. The smell of fresh oatmeal cookies and a hint of a vanilla were all to be found. I was expecting a bit more malt but perhaps that would have raised the ABV too much.
Flavor / Palate - Fluid and watery the taste of smoky oatmeal rinsed away any lingering flavors. There was less sweetness than I thought yet just enough to keep it from being totally boring. There aren’t any major flaws but at the same time there’s nothing to really make you sit up and pay attention. Because it lacks a heavy finish I am sure you could drink this all night. Overall an average beer which may or may not be worth checking out depending on how badly you have to try every stout in the world.
