Sample at the brewpub. This beer is a clear dark amber-copper color with a medium thin and creamy off-white head that dissipates steadily. Top ring of lacing with spots underneath. Aroma of caramel and toasted malt, with a touch of hops. Medium, smooth body with a sweet caramel malt character. Hints of roasted nuts and hops as well. The finish is sweet toasted malt with a lingering malty aftertaste. Above average overall. Sammy (12596) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 9, 2011
20 IBU, enjoyed at the brewpub. Reddish tinge, a little head. Malty aroma. A little complexity. Very decent drinkability, and an enjoyable lager. Underrated. BVery (11209) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - FEB 28, 2012

Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a dark caramel color with a medium sized foamy white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was tangy, a bit malty and sour - very vague overall. The flavor was nutty with sour caramel and faint vague fruity and floral hops. The finish was long, sour and had some caramel and a touch of perfume. Eh. Pours amber with a slight note of malt on the nose. Taste is crisp with a hint of chalk on the finish. Pretty standard for style. jsquire (4559) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - MAY 10, 2013
Murky brown amber color with a short lived beige head. Sweet malty nose. Caramel sweetness with some toasted white bread. Mild hop bitterness in the finish. There is an odd yeasty taste at the end.... aracauna (3651) - Georgia, USA - DEC 30, 2004
This one is quite pretty with a light mahogany body and a nice, off-white head. There’s very little aroma, but the warm malts come through nicely in the flavor making this the more interesting cousin of the Grindstone Gold. The caramel and toast malt pique your interest but are short lived, leaving you with the feeling of potential unfulfilled. SrSilliGose (3331) - pouring bus, New Brunswick, CANADA - DEC 22, 2009
pours a clear amber with a small offwhite head. notes of earth, toast, old bread. grassy hops. wouldn’t get again.
