COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When we opened our doors 17 years ago, imposing India Pale Ales didn’t even have a style name, but thanks to the bravaddo and ingenuity of American craft brewers, ourselves included, the "Imperial IPA" has grown into one of the most coveted and delicious styles of beer around and one we feel is perfectly suited to serve as this year’s anniversary beer. A quintet of hops--Citra, Green Bullet, Pacific Gem, Pacific Jade, and Wakatu--lend a spicy tropical spike balanced out by clean breadiness on the finish. It makes for the perfect specialty ale to toast to 17 years of brewing immensely flavorful beers. Prost!

Koelschtrinker (20412) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - NOV 13, 2013
Deutlich hopfiger Antrunk, blumig. Angenehme Herbe, vollmundig. Intensiv bleibend, leicht grasig, weich. Die Blumigkeit wird auch im Mittelteil absolut in den Vordergrund gestellt, wenig helles Malz. 10/12/12/12/10/12

22 oz. bottle, pours a clear copper with a small white head. Aroma brings out loads of resinous hops and a big caramel backbone. Flavour is very much the same, with a bit more residual sweetness than I like in my IIPAs. Drinkable in smaller amounts until the sweetness becomes a bit cloying. Not a sugar bomb, but still a bit too much. Good, but sub-standard for the style.

On tap @ Stone Liberty Station. Pours a nice orange color with a white head. Nose is sweet caramel, pineapple, and orange. Light grass and pine, some melon, and lemon. Flavors of pineapple, orange, and melon up front. Light pine flavor and bitterness. Mild grass and some sweet caramel malt.

Bottle - Huge aroma of grapefruit/pine and tropical fruit, well balanced against some nice sweet malts. Clear gold with a thin white head. Piney fresh hops, with a bit of an oily mouth feel. Really nice.

Bomber from Bine & Vine. Pours golden amber with a creamy off-white head. Tropical fruits are wafting past me just from the pour. Deep inhale is more of the same plus a very light touch of cat pee. Full bodied. Creamy/foamy carb. Flavor is so complicated. Tropical fruit/floral/pine/citrus. Really good hop burn plus a little heat down low in the gullet. Finishes hoppy as all heck, with some nice caramel still detectable. Super delicious.

Tmoney99 (14495) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 4, 2013
Bottle. Poured a clear copper color with large frothy off-white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex hop aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid beer and very good double IPA.

Bottle, shared with Rosser and Faysal. Pleasing juicy citrus hops, sweet caramel malts, quie bright for such a big brew.

22 oz bottle shared with the wife. Pours a clear golden color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have fresh citrus hops showcasing orange and tangerine, some resiny hops, light toasted malts, caramel with mild spicy notes. Very drinkable at almost 10%. This brought a small glimpse of summer on a day when we are getting 6+ inches of snow.

marcus (10231) - Sacramento, California, USA - JAN 3, 2014
bottle from City Beer. Pours orange amber with a tiny set of off-white bubbles and a boozy malt aroma. There is a medium-bodied caramel malt flavor with a dry bitter finish. Maybe a bit of pineapple.
