A: The pour is a dark brown color with an off-white head sitting on top.
S: Definitely shows off the smoke, and there is some of the usual saltiness that I get from smoked beers. That said, there is some depth to the nose and there is a nice toast, bread, and toffee character.
T: The flavor is fairly smokey as well, but it also has some complexity and treats the smoke as a complementary flavor. Toasted bread, slight caramel, and some toffee. A little bit of vanilla, but not much in the way of bourbon.
M: Medium in body and medium in carbonation.

Terrific smoked flavor but not overpowering, smooth, and malty without excessive sweetness. Great balance of flavors, and while the strength was detectable, the taste of alcohol was barely noticeable. I suppose smoke masks that well. Just enough hops to add some woodsy notes. Bravo. On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad’s Barrel Blast. Pours with a hazed brown body and a thin off-white head. Aromas are smokey and bacony with bourbon and maple. Flavors are of smoke, ash, caramel and bacon. Finishes quite bitter.

Slightly woody smoke emanates above this beer picking up some notes of hops and smokey tartness along the way. It’s a nice looking beer, I would say...kinda of an opaque reddish orange with an illuminating glow. Flavors showcase some subtle and restrained smokiness alongside the normal unassuming malty nature of your average brown ale. Certainly clean with no obvious faults, but I think the smoke flavors, even smoke aromas, could certainly be more pronounced. In any event, for Coronado, it’s certainly not too shabby. Interesting brew for sure. Pours murky, caramel brown with a thin offwhite head that leaves specks of lace. Smells good. Bourbon and wood and malty sweetness. Tastes interesting... Smokey and woody bourbon sweetness dominate. Quite a bit of smoke but not gross. Little bit of smoked meat I guess. Full body, good carbonation.
