This golden colored ale is smooth, light in flavor, and still retains a slight crispness in its finish, very similar to a European-style pilsner. Our Coronado Golden is delicately hopped with Czechoslovakian Saaz hops, traditionally used in making the classic pilsner. It is our most popular beer at our restaurant and considered our gateway beer into the micro-brew world.

Draft at Lowes Coronado. Fizzy and Yellow but not horrible. Just not super exciting.

Rating #1520 - 18.03.2015 - On tap at Coronado. Clear golden pour with a white head with decent retention. Anyway, the aroma is quite hoppy, more leaning to a pilsner than a blonde ale with a floral Saaz bite. Taste is grass, sweet malt, but is well balanced, if a little bit on the sweeter side

Keg at the taproom on the island, 13/11/14. Clear pale golden blonde with a moderate off white covering. Nose is pale malt, light citric peel, orange, straw, cereal. Taste comprises grain, pale malt, cereal, lemon rind, faint caramel. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light bitterings. Blandometer is high ... missable.

Aroma is stronger than the pale colour would lead one to expect. Flavour is nicely balanced but nothing special.

On tap at the brewpub. It poured a cloudy yellow color with a small white head. The aroma was sweet and lightly fruity. The taste was smooth fruit with some light bitterness and sweetness. Nice.

Pours a light hay color, forming decent white head of foam. Aroma of bready, floral, toasty, with a very light hint of caramel. Flavour is a tad hoppy but pretty refreshing especially with its pilsner taste medium mouthfeel with light carbonation. Somewhat refreshing.

"a pilsner masqerading as an ale? that pretty much seems to be what they were going for here. light and refreshing. maybe a little too light bodied, and the aroma is weak. Everything there is pleasant (some grassy hops and lightly sweet fruity malts), just underdone. *lost review from August 2012"

September 9th, 2012 - Coronado Brewery is one short breathtaking drive away across the Coronado Bridge, and on an island layered with luxury, beauty and finesse. After a short circuit around the island and the requisite ogling at the Hotel Del Coronado, me and my day adventure buddy glided over to Coronado Brewery to fill up on beer. First up on the tasting paddle was Coronados Golden, a light, crisp golden ale that brings a lot of pilsener quality to the drinking experience. Crystal malt, lemon, popcorn and fresh cotton constitute the aroma, which itself is probably a product of whatever native Californian yeast they proudly announced was behind the bubbly manufacture of this brew. The palate is sudsy and cleansing - good after a day at the beach - with notes of baked bread, and a long aftertaste of unbuttered, dusty popcorn. Its dry and refreshing, with a crisp pilsener like edge that can revitalize a dry mouth after a day galavanting around Coronado Island.
