It doesnt take a genius to kno w quality West Coast IPAs require a stupid amount of hops. A generous blend of Nugget hops and the four CsCascade, Centennial, Chinook and Columbusbrings forth a myriad of tropical fruit flavors and a brawny, persistent bitterness that makes for a highly intelligent brew.

Pours clear amber with thin head. Nose is citrus and pine. Mid range body. Finish is dry piney hops. Wouldnt have pegged this one for a double but enjoyable none the less.

Bottle from Stirchley Wines, Birmingham. Looks, smells gorgeous. Has a very dry, bitter finish. Before the finish, its caramelly sweet, with a blooming alcohol sweet hit. Carrott notes in the middle and peppered cabbage too. Really like it. Hints at, but isnt quite (cos not strong enough), but could almost be a US Barley Wine. Although its the wrong colour. Great carbonation.

I really liked this one-- its right where I like an Imperial or Double IPA to be, in terms of clearly "more" than standard IPA, but not offensively so. For me the subtle brown sugary sweetness is just exactly enough to take the edge of the pleasantly intense hops. Reminds me of other similar sugar / hop beers like Hopslam. For a high ABV beer, it also very successfully avoids tasting too alcoholy. Very good stuff.

Delicious impy IPA. Rich and smooth malts (sweet bread, light caramel) balanced by a juicy burst of hops (grapefruit, lemon, pine, resin). Snappy, grassy bitterness.

Bruiser of an IPA, very aggressive palate with heavy piney resinous hops. Sticky finish. Loses a little on balance in my mind, hops get almost sticky and a little heavy, not as refreshing as I would like. Overall very good beer, but not near the best amongst its peers in style.

Sampler at The Mondial de la biere 2012 in Montral. The color is a clear amber with a thin beige head. The aroma is of hops and citrus fruits. The taste also of hops and citrus fruits plus pine touches with abit of malt. Not to strong a taste for a double I.P.A. but still very good.

Draft - Very hoppy with mild citrus. More heavy and bitter than I prefer. Good strong IPA, but not fantastic.
